Korea 2018 Day 5 & 6 : Jeongseon -> Gangneung -> Seoul -> Hongdae

Day 5 :

Good morning! I woke up with such view!

It's not snowing anymore but outside is still beautifully filled with snow and some melting snow!

Wen manage to build a little snow man on the bench before we leave the place!

And after staying for 2 nights, their cat finally decided to come to say bye to us!

Time to say good bye to this beautiful house! I am gonna missing staying here and will forever remember the beautiful snow I saw here!

Our host send us to the Jeongseon bus terminal and also helped us to purchase the ticket because he is afraid that the staff don't understand us. Very nice of him!

 Bus ticket is 9000won ( SGD$11 ) each.

Anyway we are taking the long journey bus go Gangneune, where the winter Olympic is held last month and currently the Paralympic was held. We are not there to watch but to exprerience the place.

Again pass by many beautiful scenery during the journey!

Coffee time! Luckily I bought coffee yesterday while buying our ingredient for dinner!

I wonder what are these stairs for?

Look at this view! Is this a belated Christmas?

Finally reach the Gangneung Terminal!

From the bus terminal, we took a taxi to our accommodation which is by the beach.

And here we are! Are you wondering why is there container here? Where is my accommodation?

Recreation area? The host totally can't speak English so we don't know what this is area for.

Yes! We are staying at the caravan  (aka the camping van )! We stood there in the cold wind for more then 30 mins waiting for the host to come back as he wasn't in the office!

Check the host out at : https://www.airbnb.com.sg/rooms/15170504

The view in front of us from our caravan.

The van is bigger then I expected and has everything you need there.

Sleeping area with a queen size bed.

The view from the bed.
 Dining table.

 Kitchen area.

Another sleeping area with bunk bed.

Bathroom is very clean!

After settling now, we wanted to go Jumanjin beach for some seafood, walk to the office thinking to ask our host to call a taxi for us but again he went missing! Only got a dog that came to greet us!

We ended up walking to the Main Street and to realise there is a café, a BBQ restaurant and other caravan.

We were standing outside a small container office and a man approach us to see if we need help, so we told him we need a taxi but we don't know how to call one.

Mr Hong invited us into the office because it's too cold outside and he help to call the taxi for us! So nice of him! And while waiting of the taxi, we get to know that he is the owner of the café outside!

The taxi driver bring us to Jumunjin beach and this is where the Korean Drama, Goblin shoot one of the famous scene here.

The wave are too scary to even take a picture like the goblin!

We only dare to take from a distance from the edge! Haha!

The driver drop us at one of the seafood restaurant and ask if it is ok to eat here. We thought it should be fine since this restaurant is feature in some local gourmet programme before.

When we were there, there isn't any people eating here but while eating, slowly the place is filled with people.

 I guess they are famous?

We ordered the Korea Red Crab instead of the snow crab and king crab because it's the cheapest ( but not cheap also ) among all! Anyway since we are in Korea, we shall eat their local crab right?
3 big red crab already cost us 94000won ( SG$116 )!! It's 50000won ( SG$61.70 ) per kg for red crab, 70000won ( SG$86.40 ) per kg for snow crab and 95000won ( SG$117 ) per kg for king crab!
The boss ask if I want 5 crab but I think 3 is more then enough of the two of us. Not sure about the price compare to other restaurant but I hope they are almost the same price!

These are all their complimentary side dish!

The boss cutting up our crabs!

Here comes our crabs! Woohoo!

Yummy! I'm a crab lover so I'm so happy that I get to try this crab! The shells are unlike the Sri Lanka  crab that we had in Singapore, they are so thin that can even see trough! Their legs are full with meat! The boss has already cut nicely for us to eat easily.

The crab intestine? Not gonna throw this away because we will need it again!

Lastly we order the rice at 2000won each! Not sure what exactly is in the rice but it's quite tasty! I guess they use back the intestine that is left on the shells to cook the rice?

Taste even better with the crab meat on it! Yum Yum!

Our taxi driver actually ask if we wanted to take the taxi back later so we say yes and he say he will wait for us. But didn't we expected is he kept his meter on until we finish our meal and the taxi fee is crazy!!! It cost us 60000won ( SGD$74 )! We felt so cheated!! My advice is if you are really going there, it's either you call the driver to come back in 2 hours time ( estimate how long will you be eating ) or ask the restaurant boss to call a taxi for you after the meal! DO NOT let the driver stay there while the meter continues to jump!

Back to our camping car and again do our usual thing, which is do nothing! Haha we just bath, watch tv and chit chat till we are sleepy and good night!

Day 6 :

Woke up early trying to watch sun rise but ended up weather not too good for sun rise! Back to sleep again...

 Good morning again!

Checked out and we went to the Mr Hong's café, Café Changgo 900 ( Café warehouse 900 ) to support him because he helped us a lot yesterday!

The interior of the café is very nice!

There is Level 2 as well.

And also a outdoor area!

Mr Hong's wife ask if we are from Singapore and she say she heard about us! Haha! I guess Mr Hong told many people around about us! Because this is the first time they saw Singaporean there!

Photo time while waiting for our food to be prepare.

Breakfast time!

Mr Hong came to meet us for a cup of coffee and also waited for our driver with us too!

The family of Mr Hong are all so nice and friendly! That's his son and daughter who is helping out at the café! Time to say good bye to them! If it's not their location is a bit inconvenient, I would love to visit them again!

Off we go to the Gangneung station!

Taking the KTX from Gangneung back to Seoul. This KTX station is actually newly open for easy travelling for people who are coming for the winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.

We met a lot of people here and this is the first time we saw so many people in this place! Haha!

They ask us to give our support to the player so we did!

They gave us a free gift too for supporting them!

And we met a group of cute ahjuma so we requested to take photo with them and they are so happy to accept our request!

Getting our tickets at the information counter.

Get our queue number.

And got our tickets! By right I should have gotten a free tickets because I purchased a 4 day pass but due to the Paralympic Games, the pass are not allow to use from this station. So we have to purchase it separately.
Bye Gangneung!

Back to the familiar Seoul and back to the familiar apartment building! Checked in our Airbnb!

 The bedroom area.

 The living room area.

Kitchen area.

 Level 2 bedroom.

Bathroom is so much cleaner then the one we stay in Busan!

Yeah! Our food is finally here! Looks good!

Right after the cheese has melted, the staff came over to show us how to wrap the pork ribs with the melted cheese.

It doesn't only look good but taste good too!

We also order a kind of wrap call Quesadilla, quite tasty too!

For the beer lovers out there!

Now you know why do we want to come to Hongdae on Saturday? Because it's to most happening place on that day! Most of the youngster will come here because there is many people doing street performance here!

 There are people busking there.

 Performance later, shopping first!

Ok after shopping, back to watch the different performance! Usually groups that has more audience are normally the dancer and they have their own fans there to support them too!

I don't know the name of this tart but it's so yummy!

Coffee here is nice too! No regrets walking in!

They have a small corner that sells small items too!

Before leaving, we saw another corner of the café and it look so romantic!

After a nice coffee, time to head back home to rest!
Good night people!
