Korea Day 3 & 4 : From Land of Abalone to Land of Sashimi - Busan

Day 3 :

Start off with a cup of coffee again! Heading to Busan in the evening so gonna make good use of our last half day to tour around Jeju.

1st Destination : Jet boat

Here we are at the first destination for some exciting activity - Jet boat!
This is also the place where one of the Korea variety show, We got married ( Taemin & Naeun ) did their shooting there!

Price : 25000 per pax

Address : 2181-6 Daepo-dong, Seogwipo-is, Jeju

Saw a Ahjuma collecting her abalone there! She told us she is also a woman diver!

Photo taking session before we go sign up and pay for the Jet boat. When we were at the office wanting to pay, they told us that there is a minimum amount of people and 4 person is not enough. We were quite disappointed to heard that, thinking that it's such a waste that we went all the way there and we can't take the ride. But luckily they give us a suggestion by asking us to come back in an hour time because there will be a tour group coming at that timing and we could join them in order to hit the minimum pax. They told us it's not a confirm thing too cause the tour group might not come on time so we can only try our luck after an hour later. So we thought why not since we are there already so we decided to try our luck! Mr Kim brought us to the nearby Jungmun beach to take a look first rather then sitting at the jetty waiting.

Here we are at the Jungmun beach! There is a aquarium next to the Jungmun beach where u can watch the dolphin! But we got limited time so we just walk around the beach and head back to the jet boat jetty.

Many people chilling there and enjoying their fresh seafood.

Haenyeo again! You can see them everywhere near the sea!

We are back and we are lucky enough that the tour group did come on time and which means we get to take the Jet boat! Yeah!

We are ready to go! ( our look before boat depart... )

Robber? Haha! He is totally UV protected!

And the ride starts! All our hair are in a mess! Jaslin are all wet after the ride cause she is sitting at the outer seat! Haha! Now you know which seats to avoid...

Heading to the next desitination...

2nd destination : Hallasan National Park

We never thought of coming here but Mr Kim says that this Hallasan is the heart of Jeju, also the famous mountain of Jeju, so since we will pass by while on our way to airport, we decided to stop by and have a look.
Before we reach the national park we saw a wild deer running across the road! This is a protected area, therefore you might be able to see wild animal running about if you are lucky enough like us!

It is really cold at the mountain area! We went in to the cafe at the mountain to grab some hot drinks and we also ended up having our lunch there.

Nice barley red bean bun!

We ordered this noodle version of their Bibimbap and the noodle is cold! Haha... not a good choice on a cold day.

3rd desitination : The Mysterious Road

Why is it call mysterious road? Appearantly this road is a optical illusion, the road seems to be uphill but actually it is a down hill. At the starting point, Mr Kim off his engine and our car start to move uphill by itself! I came here before and I did an experiment with my friend by pouring water on the road and the water seems to flow upwards! Although this is my 2nd time here, I'm still very amaze by this mysterious road. You gonna experience it yourself cause there is no way picture can show you how amazing the road is.

4th desitination : Love Land

Love Land is a theme sculpture park just next to the mysterious road. There is also a age restriction of 20 years old and above to enter.

Enterence fee : 9000KRW ( = SGD$11 )

I shall not post too many picture of the sculpture inside just in case there is kids reading my blog! Haha! Anyway, those sculpture are done by their local artist.

Such a nice weather at Jeju... But we gonna say bye already. Heading to the airport now for our flight to Busan!

Our super friendly Mr Kim heard that we are going to Busan, he quickly contact his friend, who is also a taxi driver in Busan to pick us up when we reach! So nice of him!

Last picture with Mr Kim! Although he can't speak very well English, but she still try his best to bring us to the place that we wanted to go. Thank you Mr Kim and hope to see you in Singapore!

Our Ahjushi, Mr Kim give us each a set of this as a souvenir! So nice of him! Although he couldn't really speak English, but I still think he is quite a nice person.

Off to Pusan a.k.a Busan by Jeju Air this time round. We bought our ticket from their websites at 70000KRW ( = SGD$85 ).

For tickets please visit www.jejuair.net

Bye Jeju!

And hello Busan!

Check in to Seastar hotel once we reach Busan. It is located at Haeundae beach but it is very difficult to find because the main door is not on the ground level. We had a hard time finding it though! To our surprise it is actually a motel and not hotel! The rooms looks ok with sea view and price was cheap but I will never book this "hotel" again. Bathing towel not provided, only face and hand towel, so we have to bath with the small towel and the best part is no hanger or hooks to hang your clothes and towel in the bathroom. These are still not the worst! The worst is the room are totally not sound proof! We totally can hear the "sound" made by the couple next door ( if you could understand what I meant )!!!
I'm so glad that we are only there for 1 night.

Anyway, we are meeting some of Jaslin's friend from Busan for dinner. Pass by a lot of cherry blossom tree along the road and they look beautiful even at night!

They bought us for Korean BBQ! This place is really good but so sorry that I didn't get the address of this place cause it's not nice for them to wait for me just to take picture.

Seems to be quite popular cause it is full in the inside and also outside! In Korea culture, they like to gather together for BBQ and some Soju session after work and normally they will go more then one place for gathering. While we are having our BBQ dinner, they are already discussing where to go next!

Yummy! I'm very surprise to see them cooking their kimchi because normally people eat it cold. I love their steam egg and this is the first time seeing the steam egg cooked together at the side of the BBQ pan, so basically you can cook both your meat and egg at the same time! Save all the trouble and time!

While walking to the next restaurant, we pass by this game machines which we always sees in the Korean drama! I can imagine people having a game or two at the roadside to de-stress themselves a bit after a stressful day at work .

The 2nd gathering place. Picture was taken only the next day morning when we happen to pass by. Haha! Didn't want them to wait so I didn't take picture on the night itself.

The Koreans are teaching us how to drink like them. Pouring soju into beer and use the tip of the spoon to make the bubble! Haha! Sounds like what you saw in the Kdrama right?

We had spicy octopus for the 2nd round!

We had Korean pancake too but they call it pizza! Haha!

And now they are teaching how to open a beer bottle by using the spoon!

They are totally a fun group of people to hang out with! We met each other for the first time but we can chit-chat and joke until real late before we split.
Message to them if they happen to read my blog : All the best in Korean and also hope to see you guys in Singapore!

This guy is actually the waiter in the restaurant and they all ask them to take picture together!

We really had a fun night together! It started to rain at night and the weather is getting colder so we gonna quickly get back to our hotel to warm ourselves and rest too.

Day 4 :

The view outside our room in the morning! Aside being a lousy "hotel", I really love this view!

Breakfast at one of the shop below our hotel.

The famous fish cake where you can basically sees it every where in Korea, but mostly in a mobile stall.

Really love the cherry blossom under the clear blue sky! ( picture not filter as usual! )

Taking the subway to the famous Jagalchi Market, a place that all sashimi lover must go!

How to go : Subway to Jagalchi Station...

Follow the signboard for exit 5,6,7,10...

You can exit by either exit 8 or 10.

When you walk out of exit 10, you will see a lot of fruits stall along the way. Grab a box of strawberry during the spring season and you wouldn't regret! All the fruits there looks so fresh that i feel like having every fruits that they are selling there!

You will see this sign above the last fruit stall and you turn in and there you are at the Jagalchi Market!

The Korean fish market!

Stop by this very nice and friendly Ahjuma for her fish shape red bean pancake! This Ahjuma still give us extra 2 pieces of pancake!

Eat it when it is still hot! Yummy!

Lots of seafood restaurant selling fresh seafood there!

HUGE octopus!

Selling all sort of seafood that you might not see before too.

Spotted a run away crab!

Look at the view around Jagalchi market. Amazing view! We didn't realise it until i turn my head around. Cherry blossom tree on the mountain and cute colourful houses at the bottom of the mountain!

Ok... enough of the beautiful view, time for our lunch and of course, we are having seafood and sashimi!

Very fresh plate of sashimi! I'm not a sashimi lover but the rest of them did enjoy eating it!

We ordered one of this fish ( not very sure whats the name of it ) to try but the boss gave us 3 instead! Haha... We met a lot of nice boss who are very willingly to give us extra food!

Not sure about the way to somewhere? There is interpreter in the train station so just ask them and they will be very happy to help you!

Hee hee... We bought a box of strawberry to eat during our train to Seoul! Looks super good!

Wanted to walk to Nampo market but ended up shopping at Nampo underground shopping mall first! Lots of good and cheap buy here!

Nampo Market.

They have Ice-Kachang there too!

Back to hotel to get our luggage. Pass by a cafe and the owner's cute dog is just outside the cafe to let people take picture! Oh by the way, look at the signboard at the back.. it says Drink fast Die sexy! Haha... interesting cafe but since I didn't went in so I shall not give details about this cafe.

Grab our luggage and off we go to the Busan KTX Station to take the train to Seoul.

We book our KTX tickets from Busan to Seoul in advance through http://www.letskorail.com at KRW 57300 ( = SGD$69 ). Duration from Busan to Seoul is around 2hrs and 45 mins. If you are booking the tickets online, do check the duration, some train takes a longer time but tickets are slightly cheaper. We didn't want to reach Seoul in the midnight cause we might not be able to take the subway to our hotel so we pay a little bit more so that we can reach earlier and we need not rush for the last subway.

Local snacks time while waiting for our train to arrive.

Dinner in the train.

If you didn't buy any food to eat, you can buy from the food cart in the train.

Finally reach Seoul, took the subway from Seoul station to City Hall station where our hotel, Aropa Hotel is!  From last year's experience, we are prepared to have a hard time carrying our luggage up the stairs at the train station but luckily we met a few Ahjushi who help us to carry our luggage up. The hotel is 3 mins walk from City Hall subway station, exit 7 and about 10 mins walk to Myeongdong area. Good location! We stayed in another hotel, Hotel Irene which is along the same street last year and we thought that the location is really good so we book around the same street again since we are more familiar in that area.

You can book the hotel through www.agoda.com
