Korea Day 1 & 2 : Off to Jeju, the land of abalone

Day 1 :

Another trip to Korea this Spring season again! Gotten the promotion tickets at $625 from www.singaporeair.com. They always got very good deal to korea during that season.
With the same group of people that i went with last year, this time round we are going to explore Jeju, Busan and ofcourse not forgetting Seoul for the next 9 days.

Reach Incheon International airport after 6 hrs of flight. Reach this familar transfer station again!

In the transfer train to the immigration counter.

As usual, long queue at the immigration counter.

Gonna catch our domestic flight at Gimpo Internation airport to Jeju so off we go to Gimpo Airport. You can easily reach Gimpo Airport by taking their Airport Railway. It's only 5 station, and 33 mins away!

Follow the signboard and you will be able to find the airport railroad.

Beside going to Gimpo Interntional Airport, you can take the express Airport Railroad to Seoul Station too but at the opposite entrance.

Quite abit of walking so try not to arrange a flight which is too close to your arrival time.

Yup! You didn't see wrongly, there is a cinema at the airport! Anyway, the Airport Railroad to Gimpo Airport is on your left side where you will see this movie ticket counter.
( Taking the express train towards Seoul Station, keep to your right.)

This train is also towards Seoul Station but will take a longer time so my advice is to take the express train if you only want to go to Seoul Station.

Here we reach Gimpo International Airport station and the airport is at B1.

Might look abit confuse but not to worry, just follow the signboard.

We are taking a domestic flight to Jeju, so we will proceed to the Domestic Terminal.

Check-in counter at level 2.

We thought we were late but luckily the check in time is 1 hr before departure unlike international, you need 2 hr before flight departure.
Taking Air Busan to Jeju, bought the tickets from www.airbusan.com at 30100KRW ( = SGD$37 ) each. Super cheap air tickets right?! Haha!

Coffee break before the 1 hr flight to Jeju!

Lovely view of the cafe! Quite chilly in the evening but this view just make us wanna stay outside!

Boarding time!

Sun is setting! Even though i'm not at the beach watching the sunset, it still look as beautiful!
( if you follow my travel blog you will know I love sun set! Haha!)

Cheaper than our budget airline and yet they provide FREE drinks to passager!

First thing to do when we reach Jeju is rush to The Shilla Hotel! Not to check in cause we don't stay there, but to have our "special" dinner here. We were actually late for our appointment already.

Nice hotel but too expensive for us to stay.

Ta da! That's our special dinner place! We will be having our dinner at the camp site! Something unique right? Thanks to Jaslin who strongly insisting to have dinner there! Not cheap to eat there but it worth the experience. Each portion is quite big so we actually book 3 person portion for 4 person.

Walking towards our dinner place.

The camping site!

Our own individual camping tent and BBQ pit!

With heated sleeping area in the tent too! It is really cold at night in Jeju so it is really nice of them to give a heated sleep bags!

Dinner time!

Our personal chef!

Yummy yummy! Look at those Abalone!

Chef-nim ( how a korean call a chef with respect ) preparing yummy food for us!

There is Steak, Abalone, Prawn, Sausages, Sweet Potato and Tomato!

They say camping must use camping mug ( even drinking beer )!

Ok, some group photo before we continue eating!

We thought that's all we are having so we decided to grab the cup noodle provided to fill our tummy! Ra-myeon on a cold night is seriously the best!

Oh no! We are wrong! They continue to bring food for us after we finish the ra-myeon! We were so full but this plate of BBQ rice cake with honey just don't allow us to skip them! This rice cake looks so normal but it is so far the best rice cake I've eaten! Crispy on the outside, chewy in the inside and dip with honey is seriously the best way to eat the rice cake!

Now, they bring in the Bibimbap! Soooooo full now and here comes the rice!

And the food continues... next is the Doenjang Jjigae ( Korea miso soup )!

Last but not least... the famous Jeju orange as the dessert! How can you not eat orange when you are in Jeju right?

Orange peeling competition! Haha! ( I'm done with mine as seen in the picture! Well train since young when i always have orange peeling competition with my cousins! Haha! )

Yummy orange!

Jaslin, the next chef-nim who is trying to heat up some food to mauch! I thought we were very full already?

Selfie shots in the sleeping area! So warm so nice to sleep!

Its late already so we decided to make a move to our hotel which is just next to Shilla.

Last two group photo at the camp fire before leaving.

Checking in our hotel! The Suites Hotel is just next to Shilla Hotel (2mins walk). Check the hotel out and price at www.agoda.com .

Our hotel lobby is not as bad compare to Shilla Hotel!

Our room!

The bathroom!

Day 2 :

Kick off the day with a cup of coffee! Book the hotel at a promotional price, therefore there is no breakfast included. There is a small convience store outside the hotel so you can grab some light breakfast there too.

Sunny but windy day! Love the weather here!

My breakfast that i bought when we stop by another bigger convience store.

Red bean pancake! ( i'm not a heavy breakfast person so this is more then enough )

1st Destination - The Horse Ranch!

No white horse ( 白马王子 ), brown horse also can lah!

Horse riding time! 2 different price for 2 type of package.
Package A : Half course, where you can to take picture with the horse and walk abit near the ranch - 25000KRW = SGD$30

The cowgirls are ready to get on the horse!

My handsome brown horse prince and me! Haha!

Horse riding is more fun than i expected! Woohoo!

The beautiful view up the mountain!

Thank you for bringing me up there and show me the beautiful view! *muack*

Off to the next destination!
Look! Cherry blossom along the road! Didn't get to see cherry blossom during last year's spring season  because we were in Seoul only and Seoul is much colder, therefore no cherry blossom at that time. So happy to sees them this time round!

2nd Destination : Green Tea Farm and Maze!

Entrence fees : 8000KRW = SGD$9.50

Matching clothes and car!

Off we go to the maze!

The green tea plantation!

Beautiful Cherry Blossom!

Off to the maze!

Group picture before walking into the maze!

Not forgetting to take picture while figuring out our way! Oh ya that Ahjushi ( uncle ) is our friendly driver, Mr Kim!

End!

Saw this cute doggy outside the cafe!

His name is Miro ( means maze in Korean if i'm not wrong )

Another cherry blossom tree outside the cafe!

Going in for our tea session! ( included in the enterence fees )

Nice and traditional cafe!

View outside the cafe!

Notes to the place from all over the world!

Ahjuma (aunties) having their tea session too!

Beside having the free tea session, we can order others as well but of course not for free.

Yummy green tea!

Lady boss helping us to make our Green Tea Ice Cream Waffle!

Yummy Green tea waffle at 10000KRW = SGD$12

Bye sleepy Miro!

Off to our 3rd destination!

3rd Destination : Jeongbang waterfall

Enterance fees : 2000KRW ( = SGD$2.50 ) for adult and
1000KRW ( = SGD$1.30 ) for kid 7 years old to 12 years old.

Beautiful view inside!

Group photo with the waterfall without anyone's help! ( the wonder of the monopod! )

Out of no where, there is a tent and we are very curious what is that tent for so we decided to go over and have a look.

It is actually 3 Ahjuma, whom we believe is the women diver, A.K.A Haenyeo, selling fresh seafood there.

Fresh and live abalone, sea cucumber and not very sure what's the other.

Ahjuma cutting the live abalone for us.

Each big place of fresh seafood is 30000KRW ( = SGD$36 ). Having it so fresh and big plate, I think the price is quite reasonable!

Having seafood by the sea is a very local but unique way for us!

Live abalone is much much harder then I thought! Cooked one is always so chewy, so different for the live one.

Not sure what is this but..... Erm... I don't dare to eat! Haha!

I guess these Haenyeo dive in to catch abalone, set up a business by the sea and chit chat when there is no customer.
I really salute these women diver because there is Haenyeo who is 70 years old and above and they are still very strong! They can dive in 20 meter, hold on their breath for about 2-3 mins to get the abalone, without using any oxygen tank! Totally impress by that! Some people can't even hold their breath for 1 min in the pool!

After a fresh seafood feast, we walk nearer to the waterfall to have a closer look.

Lunch time! How can you not eat abalone porridge when you are in Jeju? We told Mr Kim that we want to try the abalone porridge and he brought us here. Not sure is it a famous resturant, but the porridge is not bad.

And of course we don't understand a single word, so Mr Kim order on our behalf.

Yeah! My porridge is here!12000KRW ( = SGD$14.50 ) per bowl and normally It's a one person portion but if you are a small eater, you can share one bowl with your friend. Since I'm a big eater, I had it all by myself!

Mr Kim pass us a small plate so that we can cool down our porridge bit by bit. ( that's what my parents did when I was a little kid too! Different culture but same way of eating. )

Only when we are about to leave the place, we saw a English menu outside the resturant!

Here we reach the 4th desitination! Where? Ok let me have some cane ice cream before I reveal the place!

4th Destination : Seongsan Ilchulbong

So the 4th desitination is actually the Seongsan Ilchulbong A.K.A Seongsan sunrise peak.
A little story about this Seongsan Ilchulbong : it is rose from under the sea in a volcanic eruption over 100000 years ago. There is a huge crater at the top of the peak. We can actually climb up the peak but wanting to see the whole crater are not possible unless we are on a helipcoter. From its name, you know that they are famous for their magnificent sun rise. If you are able to wake up at 4 plus local time in the morning, you can experience the sunrise yourself, but if you can't, just go at the normal timing like what we did.
Entrance fees : 2000KRW ( = SGD$2.50 )

P/s : No food allow inside so finish your food before entering.

This is the crater. Photo credit to Jeju Tourism Organization.

Not able to see the whole crater, we can still have a beautiful view there.

If you can, try to climb up the peak. I did during my previously trip there and the view up there is stunning! ( when your are there and you see all the elderly climbing up, it will motivate you to climb up too! )

View from 180 meter high! This picture is taken during my previous trip there.

Only Pamela went climbing up so the rest of us stayed at the bottom to wait for her! The view at the mid hill is not that bad too right? If you really can't climb to the top then stay at the mid hill for another kind of view.

While waiting for Pamela, we had some selfie session! Haha!

Walking back to the enterance to grab something to eat while waiting for Pamela.

Snack time!

We will have one of this big cuttlefish!

My fried crab stick! Yummy!

The big cuttlefish are now ready to be eaten! Surprisingly it taste good!

Sunset on our way back to our hotel.

We ask our hotel front desk staff  for recommendation on nice and cheap Chinese restaurant and they intro us here. We finish our one day tour with our Mr Kim so we call a cab and ask the driver to bring us there.

Tangsu Yuk! Always see this in the kdrama and wanted to try it so much! This is really yummy! Slightly different from our 糖醋肉.

The famous Jajangmyeon! I love jajangmyeon!

Shrimp fried rice.

Another dish that we wanted to try is this spicy seafood noodle!

This restaurant also got a menu outside. It is all restaurant will put an English menu outside or it's just a coincidence that all the restaurant we went has it? I guess with the menu outside, you can decided whether the food they offer suites your taste bud before entering the restaurant, if it doesn't then you can try other place.

The address for the resturant.
336 Jungmungwangwang - ro

Heehee! We sees that it's still quite early so we decided to go to Shilla Hotel's casino after our dinner.

Back to our hotel and enjoying the orange Mr Kim bought for us! Yummy!
