Day 1 :
When you see this you know it's holiday time again! Self checked in.
Yeah! Got our boarding pass!
Bought the Australia SIM card from www.qoo10.sg, so far bought a few SIM card for different country, even China from the same seller ( ICC ) and all SIM cards works fine.
Ready to go!
Supper and off to sleep now! Good night!
Good morning!
Before reaching the custom, we sat down at The Fly Café Bar for some coffee first since we still have some time to kill and at the same time avoid the long queue.
I got a express lane to exit! Now in some airport in Australia, they are using this Smartgate system to cut short your time to exit the airport. When you alight the airport and before reaching the custom, there are machines there for you to scan your passport, for those who can skip the stamping of passport will be given this card. So I bring this card, insert this card into another machine and picture will be taken, and I am done!
I am the only one that can skip the queue at the custom so I will be in charge of retrieving our luggage but sad to say that even after they queue so long for the custom stamp, our luggage is still not out yet! By the way, this luggage belt design is so not user friendly, if people don't remove the luggage that is at the bottom, there is no way to get the one that falls on top.
Anyway, one more flight to catch so we walked over to the Domestic departure hall.
Self checked in, luggage tag printed.
Bye Melbourne! See you in few days time.
Hello Tasmania!
While waiting for Shayne who is taking another flight here to meet us, I went to grab some brochure.
Having fun at the airport while waiting!
Let's welcome Shayne! Wondering why is she so loaded with luggage? She is actually having work holiday in Australia so she carry all her asset everywhere she goes!
Booked our car from Europcar and their counter is just inside the airport.
Heading to the car park to get our car.
4 girls travelling with rental car? No problem at all! Ok... now we need to figure out how to squeeze all luggage into the car boot!
And we did a great job isn't it? Haha!
Off we go!
Reach Sandy Bay where our apartment is located at!
Our house for the next 2 night! Not able to check in yet because we are still very early so we park our car first and went nearby to hunt for lunch.
Nice place, quiet neighbourhood to stay at.
First day and we are eating Asian food already? Ah huh... yup! So we choose to eat at Joopo Chinese Hotpot ( aka Mala pot ).
Operating Hours : 12pm to 3pm, 5pm to 9pm ( Monday to Sunday )
Took our number and wait for our lunch to arrive!
Not the best Mala but when you are in Australia, you can't expect too much too.
Walk around after lunch and coffee time again at Brew Coffee!
Operating Hours : 6.30am to 4.30pm ( Monday and Tuesday )
6.30am to 7pm ( Wednesday to Friday )
7.30am to 5pm ( Saturday )
8pm to 5pm ( Sunday )
Time to check in!
Tada! Our home! Our big living room!
Big living room with small TV! Haha but it's ok.
Dinning area.
Kitchen area.
Bedroom 1.
Bedroom 2.
View from bedroom 2.
Bathroom.
Big balcony ideal for star glazing at night!
Check the Airbnb host out : https://www.airbnb.com.sg/rooms/17626285?adults=1&source_impression_id=p3_1561285353_sFVOljF1i%2B%2BGDzkC&s=uxempV19
Not yet there but we stop by just for this view.
Too cooold! So, fast snap, run back to the car and continue our journey to Mount Wellington!
Here we are at Mount Wellington! Basically normally people will try to come early in order to drive down the curvy road before the sun set. We are consider quite late to visit the place. BUT, one thing good about coming later is, there will be no photobomber! We can have the whole place by ourselves!
This place is just so breath taking ( when you own the whole place! )!
Looks like we are on the top of the world!
There is a viewing deck there but nothing much inside.
The view from the viewing deck. If the weather is too cold, here's the right place to stay at.
Embrace the cold because the view is too breath taking to be missed!
But it’s really cold up here! We see snow on the floor so we assume it was snowing before we came.
Artistic shot? Haha!
Back to our apartment area and went to the Woolworths supermarket to grab some grocery for our dinner later.
Address : 57 King St, Sandy Bay TAS 7005, Australia
Operating Hours : 6am to 12am ( Monday to Sunday )
Done with shopping!
1 cook, 2 eye power, 1 take picture only! Haha! Sorry I can't help because I can't cook!
Ok, Simin and Teresa also starts to cook something!
Since I can't cook, I went out to watch the stars and since my camera is the only camera that can capture stars so I was helping all of us to take pictures of stars ( what a good excuse huh? )!
Dinner is done! ( We didn't cook that roasted chicken by the way... we bought from the supermarket )
Mine is without beef so looks different from the others but taste is still good!
My two favourite from Australia as after dinner snacks!
Day 2 :
Woke up early to head off to Cradle Mountain.
What a beautiful weather!
Before we go on a long drive ( for Simin and Shayne ) and ride ( for me and Teresa ) to Cradle Mountain, we stop by the McDonald at Bridgewater for our breakfast.
Anyway good night!
Caffeine in take done!
Done with breakfast and off we go!
4 Hours drive to Cradle Mountain! Fighting!
Look at those sheep!
Pass by some small town.
Not sheep but cow this time round!
Arrive at the visitor center of Cradle Mountain and got welcome by a big and beautiful wild bird at the car park!
Entry ticket for each adult will be AUD$16.50 ( SGD $16.90 ) but since we are driving, we bought the vehicle holiday pass which include up to 8 person's entry tickets and parking fees at AUD$60 ( SGD$61.80 ).
So this is how the vehicle holiday pass looks like.
The visitor center also pass us a map and told us where is the 'must go' place and where to skip since we have very limited time. We need to leave before sunset if not it will be dangerous to drive.
Initially we are planning to stay one night at Cradle Mountain so that we have enough time to explore the place but our flight back to Melbourne got reschedule by Tiger Airway ( without giving any reason or choice ) to one day before the actual day so we got no choice but to cancel our hotel at Cradle Mountain. So this explain why do we have very limited time to explore.
Look! A rainbow came to welcome us!
It was lightly snowing!
Dove lake!
Look at the view!
It was so cold to even take a proper picture! Haha! It was drizzling and light snowing at the same time!
Even though it's cold but the view is just so beautiful! No regrets coming!
Can see that my hair is totally wet?! Haha!
Off to the next place.
Limited time so we choose the shorter route, which is the Knyvet falls.
Look who we saw before reaching the Knyvet Falls!
This Wombat is so fat! So cute busy eating!
Tada! Here we are at the Knyvet Fall!
If you see carefully you will find another Wombat busy eating there!
No choice but we need to head back down already before the skies get dark.
Sun is setting soon!
Thanks to Simin and Shayne, we manage to finish all the mountain road before sun sets.
Stop by a campbell town for dinner! Not many restaurant is still open but luckily we manage to find Zeps that is still open at this hour!
Operating Hours : 7am to 8pm ( Monday to Friday )
8am to 8pm ( Saturday and Sunday )
Hot chocolate came into rescue for the cold weather!
This is so good! If I'm not wrong this dish is call the Marinara.
Back to Sandy Bay and went to Coles supermarket to grab something before heading back home.
Left over from yesterday so we decided to cook it as supper because it's our last night staying here and we didn't want to bring it with us to the next destination.
Yup! This is what we grab at Choles! It's junk food party time!
Anyway good night!
