Day 3:
Start off the morning with a cup of coffee again!
Yesterday's coffee was not good, so we are trying another cafe, Varistro, which is located next to Andgray Coffee (the not so good coffee shop).
Address: (Update: They are permanently closed)
Also, quite empty at this moment.
After coffee, take the train to Jagalchi fish market!
I always love this vibe outside the Exit 10!
The colour of the fruits is so vibrant and trust me the fruits here is so good too!
Turn right after exit 10, walk till the end and the Jagalchi fish market will be there.
This area is the open-air market and there is an indoor market too.
Operating Hours: 8am - 8pm (Monday to Sunday)
For what I know, you can purchase the seafood you want from the indoor fish market and head to the designated restaurant located just above the indoor fish market and ask them to cook for you, but I'm not too sure about the outdoor fish market.
Wanted to go to my favorite restaurant inside the Jagalchi market.
But unfortunately, the whole building including the indoor seafood market is close for renovation!
So, we randomly choose this Bada Seafood Restaurant because we see mostly locals inside.
Operating Hours: 9.30am - 10pm (Monday to Sunday)
Abalone porridge!
The staff helping us to remove the shells in the spicy seafood soup.
Overall food is good!
After meal, went back to the open-air market to get some dried seafood as per order by my mum.
The dried shrimp, dried silver/white bait and anchovy is so much cheaper than in Singapore!
I don't how to cook but my mum says these are very fresh when I gave it to her.
This big bag of dried shrimp (500g) is 10000won (=SG$10.50)!
Next, we walk over to the Nampo underground shopping center.
Many shops here and while slowly shopping in the underground shopping center, it will lead you to Nampo station.
After some shopping, time for a coffee break at Neruda Coffee, located just outside Nampo metro station exit 1.
Operating Hours: 11am - 10pm (Monday to Sunday)
Many coffee beans choice here!
They smell so good!
Good choice of coffee!
They do sell some cake too.
Enjoying coffee and people watching!
This black sesame latte is so good!
It's my first time having sesame latte, I didn't expect that sesame, and coffee will taste good together!
Welfie because the natural lighting from the window is so nice!
Pass by this big pet accessories shop. Many things available but I never find anything nice for my dog.
We book a candle making workshop and it is located at the Gukje Market.
Even google map say close at 6pm but seems like this market is only open in the mornings as most of the shop are already close.
Operating Hours: 9am - 6pm (Monday to Sunday)
Anyway, our main purpose is this candle workshop that is located at level 2.
You can also book the candle making workshop here: Make special sea scented candles in Busan - Airbnb
Operating Hours: Close on Monday,
11am - 6pm (Tuesday to Saturday)
2pm - 6pm (Sunday)
The host then teaches us on how to decorate our candle.
And let's get started by putting some sands in...
And then putting some seashells in...
Next, choose the fragrance we want.
And time to pour in the clear candle wax!
The host will melt the wax for us and put in the scent that we choose for us to pour in.
Since there is no one else at the workshop, the host gave us another small candle for us to make another candle! Oh ya, and he gave us the yellow ducky.
Adding colouring into the clear wax and pour into my candle so it will look more like the beach.
Adding the label which says I went to Busan.
Happy with our candle!
While walking back to the train station, we pass this Patjuk (a.k.a red bean porridge) and we decided to get some to warm our body because it's getting a little cold at this timing.
The ahjuma is so cute, we order 2 bowls of Patjuk for 3 persons so ahjuma gave us an empty bowl so that all of us get to eat. Haha!
Fun fact: Patjuk is commonly eaten during winter. and it is associated with winter solstice. Cooking and eating patjuk was also a ritual to prevent bad luck, epidemic disease, and influences from malevolent spirits.
It's wintertime and was surprised to see summer clothes here! And the price is acceptable!
Mobile fruits stall!
Going to meet Gemma for dinner later but we are a little hungry, so we went to A Twosome Place to grab some tea and pastry.
Operating Hours: 9am - 10pm (Monday to Sunday)
Website: http://www.twosome.co.kr/
Pass by the Line Friend shop at Nampo and went in to shop but we got didn't get anything.
Time to meet Gemma!
Every time I come Busan, she will bring me somewhere interesting and somewhere that only locals go! Most importantly always somewhere that sells good food!
Crossing over the Yeongdodaegyo bridge.
This bridge will open up for 15mins at 2pm on every Saturday (for ships to pass in the olden days if I'm not wrong) so if you are here on a Saturday afternoon, you can go check it out.
Night view of Busan bridge from the Yeongdo bridge.
Tonight's dinner place is in one of these Pojangmacha (tent)!
Yes, you can always see these Pojangmacha in Korean drama! Many locals like to gather in one of the tents to drink and maybe eat but drinking is always the priority.
Operating Hours: 5.30pm - 2.30am (Monday to Sunday)
Since most of them sells similar food, we just pick one that have more people in.
Welcome fruits.
Not sure what's this, but it's like spicy fish soup?
We really love the atmosphere here! There is about 4 or 5 different group of people here, but we ended up chit chatting with like we are originally friends! Initially we thought the 3 ladies and 1 guy on our left, were actually a group of friends but they are not! They were talking like they were friend, but they actually just met before we came in. Haha!
They are very curious of us actually because we were speaking English.
We seriously had so much fun and laughter the whole night!
We asked the ahjuma for the nearest toilet and one of the ladies who was on a bike tour with her husband, son and their bike group friends, told us that we can just use her hotel room toilet, and she straight away brought us up to her room! Haha! It's a very funny situation but we are very grateful to her!
Super cool lady!
Back to tent and order more food! This octopus is so fresh!
We really had so much fun and all thanks to our Korean friend, Gemma!
Till next year, Gemma unnie!
Back to our apartment and time for some supper!
We bought these fruits in the afternoon outside the Jagaichi metro station and bring around till we reach home! Haha!
Cherry was good, mascot green grape is so sweet, and the snow pear is so juicy!
Fruits is really a must buy when you come to Korea!
Look how big is the mascot grapes!
So good!
Once you go mascot, you can never go back to normal grapes!
Anyway, packed our luggage because it's our last night in Busan and good night people!
Day 4:
Good morning!
Time to say goodbye to Busan!
Queuing up at the KTX counter to change our KTX ticket.
But bad news! The reservation tickets (with allocated seats) are all sold out because it's a Saturday! We totally forgot that it's a weekend and we should make the reservation online before it's sold out.
The next tickets with seats will be only available at 3pm which means if we want to leave now, we have to either sit at the empty seats till someone claim the seats or stand all the way to Seoul.
Anyway, gotten our tickets and time for some breakfast at Hollys Coffee because we might not be able to eat later in the train.
So, we decided to go ahead with the free-standing ticket because we didn't want to wait for another 3 hours. Tips for free-standing tickets, there is foldable seats at the door, but the only downside is, you have to keep standing up when the train reach a station, for other passengers to board the train.
The door we are standing and siting is at least next to the drink's vender machine.
You just have to find your own ways to survive right?
And an army boy came over to our cabin, so I have to give up my luggage seat for him to stand next to the luggage compartment.
And our cabin is getting more and more crowded.
Reaching soon!
Just in time to check in our Airbnb!
This time round I didn't book Airbnb from the same standard apartment building, but we choose the one nearby it. It is located at just level 2, but it doesn't come with an elevator!
Check out the Airbnb here :
Single bed in the living room.
Bedroom 1.
Bedroom 2.
Kitchen.
Bathroom.
And time for a late lunch at my favorite Gamjatang restaurant! Yes, if you see my other Korean post, you will definitely find this place familiar because it's a 'MUST GO' restaurant!
Operating Hours: 24hrs (Monday to Sunday)
The menu.
I have been craving for this for the longest time!
And we just have to end the meal with fried rice!
Oh ya, you will see many streets performance here during the weekends.
Heard that MBL in Korea is cheaper so we went in one of the biggest outlets to check it out.
Operating Hours: 11.30am - 9pm (Monday to Sunday)
One of my favorite shops is ABC-Mart because they have many nice sneakers and sometime if there are sales going on, it will be a steal!
Shopping continues...
There is a certain skin care product I will always get from Holika Holika.
This outlet is by far the best service one I have been to! Will only come to this outlet to buy in the future!
This outlet is run by a slightly older couple who can speak a little simple English, and 2 Chinese staff so not need not worry about communication.
P/s: They gave us many samples and freebies too!
Operating Hours: 11am -11pm (Monday to Sunday)
Beside shopping, one of the main purposes coming to Hongdae is to visit this cafe, the Samoyed Cafe - Winter Village.
Operating Hours: 1pm - 9pm (Wednesday to Monday)
Close on Tuesday
Website (IG): https://instagram.com/winters_village
There is a limited amount of people that can be in the cafe at a time, so we need to queue for our turn at their designated area.
Once you make the payment, you will receive one of this rubber band.
The staff (not in the picture, not the dog) will give a briefing on things to lookout and to prevent while playing with the Samoyed.
And the staff hand us some dog treats for us to treat the dogs.
And all ready to play with the Samoyed!
Look at these fluffy clouds!
Say cheese!
Samoyed have to be the most smiley dog breed!
Colour on the tail means something. There is certain colour that represent friendly dog, you can pet them, and some colour represent unfriendly so do not touch.
Look at this dog looking into the counter while the staff is getting some snacks for them.
This polar bear, I mean Samoyed came to hug me!
All eye on the treats container that the staff is holding!
This is the moment that they allow to take picture with multiple dogs!
They are not sleeping by the way! They just have small eyes! Haha!
So cute!
So big and fluffy!
There is a performance part, where all the dogs run in from the door, you will full like a massive cloud running towards you!
Dog therapy done!
Now I miss my dog and can't wait to go back and hug her!
Honestly, if you ask me is it recommended to come here, I will say the people who came here definitely enjoy their time playing with the dogs but are the dogs truly enjoying? Let's say, people start coming in since 1pm once the cafe open and which means they have been eating and entertaining people since then. This make me wonder if the dogs all will be over fed?
Admission fee wise, it doesn't come with any drinks, and it's called a cafe but without selling any drinks or food. So basically, you pay to go into a "petting zoo" and not going to a cafe for a drink and at the same time enjoying the accompany of the dogs.
Whether is it recommended to go, I will let you make your own decision, as for myself, personally even though I really love dogs and the Samoyed are really cute, but I will not go again.
Anyway, time for dinner!
We didn't know what to eat while exploring around for restaurant, we pass by this BBQ place that is own by HAHA and Kim Jong Kook and we decided to just have Korean BBQ tonight. We had Korean BBQ here in 2019 and their meat is really good!
Operating Hours: 4pm - 2pm (Monday to Sunday)
We ordered the old school bento too!
You need to shake the bento.
And it will look at this after all the shaking.
And we ordered a Naengmyeong (cold noodle), and it is so yummy!
Listen to the sizzling ASMR!
The meat again did not disappoint!
And we got a surprise! HAHA walked into his restaurant while we are eating! We were too busy eating and didn't realize until we heard the next table talking about it.
Oops, another surprise? Haha the restaurant went black out and we have to cook with our phone touch! Haha!
HAHA is so friendly that he went around all tables to take photo with everyone!
Unplanned dinner here brings us a nice surprise!
While walking to the subway station, pass by this cart there sells dog clothes and there is a real dog there!
Home and unpack our Holika Holika loot! The 24k product is my 'must buy' item from Holika Holika.
Half is what we bought, and the other half (those that is in the red box) is all the freebie by the boss!
Anyway, time to say good night!
