Korea 2019 Day 5 to 7: 2D café -> Busan -> Seomyeon -> Gamcheon Culture Village -> Taejongdae -> Nampo -> Jagalchi Fish Market -> Singapore

 Day 5:

Good morning!
We are leaving Seoul today but before that we need to do one last cafe hop here!

Here we are at Greem café in Hongdae!
Will show you why do we come all the way here once I go in! Let us join in the queue first.

Operating Hours: (Update: They are permanently closed)

While queuing, here's a hint of what kind of café we are going!

Tada! We are finally in after about 20mins waiting time. Waiting time is not too bad!

So basically, this café is like a 2D drawing café. Everything is monochrome, just black lines on white base.

Taking a quick picture with this table before someone took over.

Big table in this room for larger group.

Look at all the drawings! Even the floor is like its hand drawn!
Not sure if it's real hand painted but I assume it's not?

Look at these cute chairs!

Here is the menu, not many choices.

Some selection of cakes.

While waiting for our drinks, we went around the café to take pictures!
(not easy to find an empty corner to take picture!)

Welfie while waiting for our drinks!

Our drinks are here! Even the cups are 2D drawing!

Ordered two cakes to share too!

Toy cafe latte.

Orange cafe latte.

Choco milk.
The chocolate on top is a mug cover not real chocolate (in case you are wondering)!

Welfie with our coffee before it's gone!

Lesser people now so went around to take more picture of the café and found a hidden corner with a chair there for people to take picture with the background I assume?

Haha even the toilet door is drawn.

Done with our coffee and time to head back to our apartment to collect our luggage. Look at these maple leaves! So red so pretty!

I think this is my first time in Korea during Autumn? Every season really give a different vibe of Korea!

While walking to the subway station.

Nearest subway exit of Hongdae station to the cafe.

Back to Seoul KTX station after collecting our luggage.

Their train is very on time so be there early to find you cabin and seats!

By the way, if you happen to see someone on your designated seats, not to worry, just tell them politely it's your seats and they will stand up and give the seat back to you. Usually, those people purchase standing tickets so they will seat at empty seats, therefore if anyone tell them that they are sitting on their reserved seats, they will have to "return" the seats.

Take away Lotteria and Kimbap from the KTX station as lunch while on our way to Busan!

Look at how thick their chicken is! I don't think Singapore now have this kind of thick chicken in a burger anymore.

Look at the view!

It's almost 7pm and we finally reach Busan station and checked in our Airbnb which is located just opposite the train station. I always stay here due to the convenience. It is also located next to Busan Chinatown. The Airbnb concept is the same as the one we stayed in Seoul. Here is the lower level with a bed and living room.

This house has no TV.

The upper level with 2 twin bed.

The kitchen.

The bathroom.

How many people in this trip again?

Settle down quickly and off to Seomyeon for dinner!

Every time I come Busan, I will definitely eat Outdark fried chicken! They are less commercial, and their chicken and sauce are really good!

Their first time having Outdark fried chicken!

Once you sit down, they will serve you a plate of sauce for you to try so you can order the one you like.

Their menu. If you can take very spicy, choose their hot spencer spicy chicken!
And if you are spoilt for choice, ask for Ban Ban, which means half half, 1 chicken 2 different sauce.

Here's our chicken! We ordered boneless chicken, half spicy and half original. Usually fries and tteokpokki is serve together with the chicken but this time round we added the cheese stick as well!

So good that we decided to get another chicken, and this time round we ordered the soy sauce spicy sauce (my favorite!) and garlic sauce.

Grabbed a probiotics drink from the convenience store because we had too many chickens! Haha!

Anyway, back to apartment and good night!

Day 7:

Kimbap for breakfast! Does the Kimbap looks familiar? It's actually the one we bought from Seoul KTX station, but we are too full to finish it with in the KTX ride.

Order take-away coffee while waiting for our friend!
Their coffee price is cheap!

Today we have driver! This is Sejin, our ex-colleague who use to work in Singapore with us! She was a Busan local so she gonna drive us around and show us the Busan she lives in!

Welfie first!

Coffee time and off we go!

Here we are at Gamcheon Culture Village!
I have been here actually but I'm happy to revisit!

Operating Hour: 9am - 6pm (Monday to Sunday)

Taking picture with this "fish" again since my last visit here 4 years ago!

Let's go explore the village!

Selling cute cotton candy!

The view from the village.

Guess what we are queuing for?

While queuing we saw a café selling mini donuts, so we decided to grab some while waiting for our turn.

Mini donuts taste normal, and it tastes more like a cake to me than a donut.

Welfie while queuing since we got nothing to do!

And the queue was actually to take picture with the little prince!

We use the fastest speed to take pictures because there is still a long queue behind us!
Some people really don't care and take their own sweet time to take like hundreds of pictures and we don't want to be like those people.

Again, took picture with the prince after 4 years but they didn't maintain the place well.
4 years ago, the colour of the pillar wasn't so fade, all paint is like freshly painted and new, now this looks old and dirty. Oh ya! 4 years ago, there isn't any queue for this spot and the village doesn't have many visitors!

Continue exploring the village.

Cute bakery shop!

Hahahah! We are trying to imitate the cat at the window peeping in, but we actually scare the people inside! Oops!

The colourful rooftop of Busan house!

Welfie again!

With the help of some strangers, we finally have a full body picture together!

 Next, coffee time!

Sejin brought us to this café call Choryang 1941 which it's located a little far from the Gamcheon Cultural Village.

Operating Hours: 11am - 7pm (Monday to Sunday)

Very nice scenery around the café!

The café looks like their traditional hanok!

Saw a mirror and here comes the welfie!

Ordered some coffee and those coffee with milk will be serve in the bottle and ice americano will be the usual cup.

The view outside the window is too pretty not to take more picture!

The view outside looks like some painting.

Went out to continue taking picture with the Autumn vibe background.

Of course, a welfie before leaving too!

View opposite cafe.

And next, Sejin bought us to Taejongdae for some seafood dinner!

Operating Hours: Not sure

Look at the view outside the seafood restaurant.

Still early for dinner I guess? We are the only one eating here.

Dinner with a sunset view!

Our food is here!

Seafood here is so fresh! (but of course! We are in Busan! Of course seafood is fresh right?!)

Scallop with melted cheese! Yummmmm

Look at the meat!

Welfie with the food before it's gone!

Time for some abalone!

And here comes the seafood ramyeon! This is seriously a MUST order! So gooooood!

And of course, how can we not have a fried rice to end the meal right?
Sun set!

So full and happy now!

I am not sure if any public transport can reach here but here's the name card of the seafood restaurant we ate.

And the sun has set.
So beautiful even without any filter!

Taking multi photo with the sunset background! Too pretty not to take picture with.

Did you see the moon is already out while the sky is still orange?!

Ok last proper picture before we leave the place.

Back to Nampo-Dong!
Very Christmas vibe now in Nampo even though it is only November!

So pretty!

Bid goodbye to our "tour guide", Sejin after she drop us at Nampo.

Went to Seomyeon to continue shopping!

After shopping a little, we are here again for dinner! Yes, we are having dinner again but this time round with Gemma, another Korean friend of mine! Every time she will make time to meet me whenever I'm in Busan!

Operating Hours: 11am - 10pm (Monday to Sunday)

We are the only group that is eating here! Good or bad? We will know later!

Here's the menu.

So, we are having Budaejigae (army stew)! Honestly Busaejigae is the food that I seldom get to eat in Korea, not sure why but maybe it's not easy to find?

 Looks yummy!

And we ordered the Bacongui and Sosigegui (grill bacon and sausage)! First time having this!
Here's the before...

And the after!

Welfie with Gemma! The food is surprising good, not sure where isn't anybody eating here.

After our 2nd dinner, we continue for a last coffee break at the Jeongpo cafe street!

Many cafes here is either closing or closed but we manage to find this cafe which operates 24hrs, so we decided to have our coffee here!

Operating Hours: (UPDATE: They no longer operates 24hrs.)
                9am - 2am (Wednesday to Monday)
9am - 11am (Tuesday)

Love the vibe of the café here!

The menu.

Alcohol drinks available too!

Ordered some coffee and cake to end our day!
I know... We can really eat... But it's vacation! Let's just enjoy first and think later! Haha!

I'm not a matcha person but I choose this Hulk latte because it sounds interesting! Haha! Basically, is Matcha latte with coffee.

After a long full day, time to head home and sleep! Oh wait and pack our luggage too because it's our last night already!
Good night people!

Day 7:

Good morning! Last view from our apartment window.
After checking out our Airbnb, the host allow us to leave our luggage at the apartment, so we left our luggage and went out to hunt for our breakfast.

Off we go!

Here we are at the Jagalchi fish market!

0
Once you walk out the train station, you will pass by some fruits stall (I forgot to take picture of the stall), go get yourself some fruits! The strawberry is so fresh, and price is so reasonable!

After the fruits stall, turn right and walk straight to the end for the fish market!

There are many seafood restaurants around so you can just check the food menu and price, if you are ok with it, then you can just try.
I will show you my favorite restaurant in a while.

Here we are at the outdoor fish market!
It's wet market so if you are those who are uncomfortable with it, you might want to skip it and go straight to the restaurant.

The price of the dried shrimp and different type of anchovy is so reasonable! Took picture and show my mum and she ask me to buy a few packs back for her to cook!

My favorite seafood restaurant is located in this building.
If you always read my blog on Korea, you will know which restaurant I'm talking about.

Bought them to the level one indoor fish market because it's their first time here.
You can buy the seafood you want, proceed level 2 to ask the restaurant to cook for you at a charge.
I didn't like this way because it's too much time consuming, you need to go compare price, find what kind of fish you want etc.

I'm back to my favorite restaurant for some seafood feast!
Been here a few times and I find that their seafood is fresh (of course right? The seafood market is just below) and the price are reasonable! Staff couldn't speak English or Chinese (they do speak Japanese though) but are very friendly and always tries to help! The view and space are good too!

Operating Hours: (Update: They are temporarily closed.)

It's always empty when I come here! I really wonder why but I'm loving the quietness!

The view from the window.

The menu.

Starts to cook our spicy seafood soup!
Can't wait!

Their seafood pancake is nice and crispy too although I don't like the spring onion and had a hard time removing them! Haha!

I seldom eat bibimbap in Korea is because I don't eat beef and most of the restaurant will put beef in it. This restaurant specially removes the meat for us although we are not sure what meat are they going to put.

The right way to have bibimbap is to mix the rice, veggies and sauce all together like this.

Tada! Our soup is cook and ready to dig in!

After lunch, took the train to Nampo again!

We are here for a last café hop before we bid goodbye to Korea!
The cafe is located at level 3.

It says 'I am a flower for you, you are a flower to me' if google translator didn't fail me.

Here we are at Kkobatae Café!

(Update: They are relocated to 6 Waseokjanteo-ro )
Operating Hours: Not sure

This café is also a floral shop. They do sell flowers or seems like florist workshop at the back of the café!
And again, we walk into an empty place! Haha!
Can you count how many places we went were empty when we were there? We always have the whole place by ourselves!

The whole café is so beautifully decorated with dried flowers!

Cakes that they offer.

The menu.

Our coffee and cake are here!

Everything is so nice! Even the coffee cup!

Drinks are decorated with flowers too!

And look at the small details! A heart shaped straw! So cute!

Every corner is a nice spot for photos!

Selfie!

Even the ceiling is so pretty!

This is nice pretty! I'm not a flower person but this bouquet of cotton ball is so cute! Too bad we can't bring back to Singapore!

Our T-money has no more money so we bought the one way ticket back to our apartment to grab our luggage.

We took the airport bus from the bus stop opposite our apartment. The bus came too quickly that I didn't have a chance to take a picture of the bus stop! The bus came while we are still walking to the bus stop and luckily the bus driver already saw us from the traffic light, and he stops to pick us up! The driver even quickly came down to help us to open the luggage compart and also help us to store the luggage in!
Oh ya, he also told us to pay later when we reach because he needs to drive off already. I am lucky to always met nice people in Korea while many people always complain on how rude Korean is, so far not my case, that's why I love coming to Korea!

Anyway, reached the airport on time! Comes with 3 luggage but back with many additional baggage!

Trying to weight our luggage to see if it's overweight because I hear Jeju air are very strict on their weight limit. I'm doubting the accuracy of this old school weight machine though. I don't believe mine is that light! Haha!

Remember to let the tax refund counter check your tax refund receipts and luggage (sometimes they need to check the item stated on the purchase receipt) and get your customs validation stamp before you check in your luggage.

Checked in! No overweight luggage and time to say good bye to Korea!

The choice of food at Busan International Airport is definitely lesser than the Incheon International Airport in Seoul.

Of course we need to get one last coffee.

We still manage to find Jjajangmyeong here! Taste wise, acceptable but of course can't compare to the traditional restaurant.

I promise this will be my last coffee here (for this trip)!
Trying this new Amriccino black sugar latte and surprisingly not bad.

Sun is setting.

Time to say Goodbye to Korea!

Oh ya! Very important note that we didn't know beforehand! Jeju airline actually allow only 1 baggage on flight! Meaning if you have a cabin baggage, you can't have another personal bag! They will charge the additional baggage at 20000won (=SGD$23.40) each! We ended up manage to squeeze 3 carrying on into 1 so we paid for just 1 additional baggage to share. This rule is so ridiculers! It reminds me of Ryan Airline which I took when I'm in London, but their website stated quite clearly on that, and I don't remember seeing the rules from Jeju Air website.

Anyway, just a small hiccups, time to go home!

Inflight snacks?
Not sure why is there snacks because we do not have it when we fly to Korea, and we didn't order too.

Remember to look out your window to experience flying through a sky full of stars!
The plane is not as stable that's why the photo is not clear, but the small dots in the picture are all the stars!

Anyway, that's all for this Korea trip and it's my last trip of the year!
Time to work hard, so see you next year!
