Switzerland/Colmar 2023, Day 7 & 8: Arth Rigi Bahn -> Rigi-Kulm -> Vitznau -> Lindt Chocolate Museum -> Zurich City Center -> Rheinfall -> Globus -> Aarau -> Weihnachtsmarkt Aarau, Lieblings Stuck (Christmas Market)

 Day 7:

Good morning!

Taking tram to the Zurich train station.

Tram stop location: 8006 Zurich, Switzerland

Back at Zurich train station!

We are travelling out a little, so breakfast while waiting for our train.

While waiting for our direct train to Arth-Goldar at Zurich train station, our train got cancelled and the staff at the platform told everyone to move to another platform for the next train. We double confirmed with the staff the station we are going and she mention that the train at another platform is the correct train.
Guess what?
We board the train and this train went to a totally opposite direction! So now we need to take a train back to Zurich again and restart our route again! What a waste of time!

Back to Zurich and now we need to take the train to Zug and transfer to another train.

Finally reach Arth-Goldau after all the cancelled train, wrong train and reroute.

Came to Arth-Goldau for the Rigi train up to Rigi Kulm.

Quite cold today so we went to Coop to get a cup of hot drink first since there is still time for our next Rigi train.

The hot dog bun looks good!

Croissant looks good too.

Anyway, coffee time!

Walking over for our Rigi train.

Taking the Rigi train from Arth-Rigi-Bahn.

We will be taking the cogwheel train up the mountain!

Driver not here yet.

Enjoying the view while on our way up the mountain!

Here we are at the Rigi-Kulm a.k.a Mount Rigi!

I guess the wind will not allow me to have nice selfie at Mount Rigi today.

There is a Rigi Kulm Hotel here but we are not going to stay here.

Look at this cashier machine!

It starts raining the moment we reach so we got no choice but to head to the restaurant in the Rigi Kulm Hotel for lunch.

The menu.

Food was ok only. Not fantastic but there is no other choice here too.

Look how strong the wind is!

Rain stops and finally a better view on Mount Rigi!

Told you! The wind here doesn't allow nice selfie.

Looks like we are close to the sky!

Very artistic selfie, thanks to the wind!

I waited so long to get a proper selfie without hair covering my face but by the time I finally got one, someone photobombed.

Time to head back down but we will be taking another cogwheel train down.

We are not taking the same cogwheel train back to Arth Rigi Bahn but instead we will be taking this cogwheel train towards Vitznau.

Last view of Rigi Kulm before we leave.

The reason we took a different cogwheel train down because we get to see a different view!
By the way, did you see that little rainbow?

The view outside is so pretty!

Alighted at Vitznau Rigi Bahnen.

Operating Hours: 8am - 5pm (Monday to Sunday)

Walking to the bus stop.

Taking the bus from that bus stop.

Bus stop location: 6354 Vitznau, Switzerland

Looking down the Vitznau rigi station from above.

Taking the bus like locals!

After bus, taking train at Rotkreuz station.

Transfer to another train at Thalwil and alight at Kilchberg station.

Spend 1hr+ transferring bus to train and finally we are here at Lindt museum!
Lindt is also one of the well known chocolate brand around the world.

Operating Hours: 10am - 7pm (Monday to Sunday)

Getting our ticket.

The price for the ticket and Swiss Travel Pass don't work here.

Gotten our tickets!

Let's go!

Special pot just for chocolate drink.

Why do I love the past packaging more than current design?

Nestle's condensed milk in the olden days!

Chocolate mold that they used.

The famous Toblerone chocolate! Remember the gaint Toblerone we took picture with on our first day here? I wonder how big the mold will be!

The progress of chocolate making.

Different content in different chocolate.

Chocolate tasting time!

Milk chocolate.

White chocolate.

And dark chocolate!

More chocolate tasting!

Free chocolate! The chocolatier/staff told us to take one of each flavor.

Done with the whole tour!

Wanted to play this but it's not working.

But we still get a free chocolate, given by the staff standing beside the machine (who is there to tell us the machine is not working).

Shopping time!

Got some chocolate but if you are going Europe, my advice is to buy it in Europe, it's cheaper there, unless you want some exclusive flavor.

Heading back to Zurich!

Reached Zurich within 15mins train ride!

Dinner time! One of my friend highly recommended this Zeughauskeller restaurant that serve traditional Swiss food!

Operating Hours: 11.30am - 11pm (Monday to Sunday)

Very crowded in the restaurant, no wonder we have to queue for a table! I guess it's really popular even with the locals.

The menu.

The food overall is really good! The rosti is well fried and meat are all tender!

After dinner, went around to explore.

Pass by the Fraumunster Church.

It's 9pm+ and most of the shop are closed already.

Very Christmas vibe in this store!

Going home to pack our luggage!

Yogurt for supper!
By the way this yogurt is so nice with fruits bites inside!

Packed our luggage and good night!

Day 8:

Good morning!
We will be leaving Zurich today so we decided to cook our own meal for one last time because this will be the last hotel we stay that has a kitchen. Also, we can save expenses for lunch today.

Checked out our hotel and store our luggage with the hotel.

Took the tram and here we are at Zurich train station.

We went to the Shop Ville, which is the shopping area at the Zurich train station.

Operating Hours: Depending on individual store

They have Läderach here! The very expensive Swiss chocolate brand!

There is Sephora here too. Prices are cheaper back in Singapore I think? I'm not a Sephora shopper so I can't confirm it.

There is a huge section of locker in different size here. Luckily we get to store at our hotel for free.

After some window shopping, we board the train to proceed to our next destination. While on the train, someone came over and left this paper on the seats in front of us and also to everyone else in the train. Obviously we don't understand so we ignore it and that person came back to collect back after finishing his round for the whole cabin.

Reaching soon!

Here we are at the Rheinfall! Direct train from Zurich here will takes about 50mins

Follow the signage to the Rheinfall.

Follow the sign and you will see this bridge and elevator, take the elevator down.

Walk through a park.

And tada, this is the Rheinfall! I think you can take the boat somewhere nearby and they will sail really close to the waterfall.

It's a huge waterfall!

The current of the water wall is so strong but that two swan doesn't seems to be bothered.

Welfie before we leave.

Taking the train back and look who is my travel buddy!

Back to Zurich HB station and we finally get to explore this area during the day time!
Every time we are back here only in the evening and after dinner, usually all stores are close.

My favorite!

Shopping time!

Went into Globus, which is like a departmental store with many brands in there.

Operating Hours: 10am - 8pm (Monday to Saturday)
Closed (Sunday)

Dog can come in too?!

There is a food section at the basement.

The Dolce & Gabbana panettone packaging is so nice!

But the price is not nice!

After some shopping, time for a coffee! There is a small cute take away coffee place beside Globus call Happy Popup coffee.

Operating Hours: 8am - 6pm (Monday to Friday)
10am - 6pm (Saturday)
Closed (Sunday)

Nice!

Continue window shopping.

Back to our hotel to collect our luggage!

Back to Zurich HB station and saw that they are starting to set up for Christmas market!

Too bad we are leaving so we didn't get to shop here but it's ok we are heading to Aarau, where the Christmas market has already started!

Train to Aarau!

And my new travel buddy!

He/she decided to just sit next to me! So cute!

Just a few station and here we are at Aarau!

Staying at Aarauerhof hotel for the night. The hotel is located just beside the train station.

Self check in the hotel.

Got our room card!

And this is our room for just tonight!

Personally feel that the sofa seems to be a little dirty!

The bathroom is big BUT, there is no heater in the bathroom so it's very cold after shower during the cold season! (even the floor is cold) We ended up bringing the small warmer from the room and place it in the bathroom when we shower.

After settle down, off we head to the Christmas market. It's about 10mins walk from our hotel.

Here we are at the Aarau Christmas Market that operates only from 17th November to 23rd December and today is the first day of the Christmas market!

It's my first time at a Christmas market!

What's this?

Churros time!

Yum!

Cheese!

As a lavender lover, I'm totally attracted to this shop!

Everything smell so good!

They sell lavender honey here!

And most importantly this lady so friendly (and very pretty)! She patiently explain the products and also tell us a lot about lavender!

I got myself this little bag of lavender staffed in it, which can be place beside the bed for a better sleeping or can be place in the wardrobe to make the clothes smells good!

Got myself some soap too! Smells so good!

She then patiently pack nicely for us!

She gave us some loose lavender for us to put in our bags so every time we open our bag, we can smell the lavender!

There is live band too but they are still setting up the stage.

Greek dinner from one of the stall!

Remind me about my trip to Greece.

After walking the whole Christmas market, time to head back hotel.
Maybe it's the first day so many stall are not open yet but it's still a nice Christmas vibe market!

Pass by this cool looking barber shop while walking back to hotel.

Suddenly Wen crave for McDonald's apple pie and this might be the most expensive McDonald I've been to!

Back to our hotel and look how nicely pack is our lavender loot! We only ask if she could pack in individual bag so that we can give as gift and she really put in effort to gift wrap for us!

Anyway, time to say good night!
