Travel Like Olivia: 2D1N to Bintan, The Canopi Resort

Day 1:

When it comes to 2D1N, most likely we will go Batam or somewhere in Malaysia right? That's what my blog shows in the past as well, so this time round I'm going to Bintan!

Honestly speaking I have not been to Bintan before! Since they had a camping tent theme resort there so I was thinking why not go there to have a try.

Saw a deal of 'The Canopi' in Groupon, which is the resort that we wanted to stay but after all the calculation, we think that booking the room through the resort website and ferry tickets on the website individually is still cheaper then the deal. ( FIY : there is many hidden surcharge in Groupon )

Anyway this trip is to celebrate Teresa's birthday!

Ferry to Bintan is not from Habourfront but from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal. Book the ferry ticket from https://reservations.brf.com.sg/Booking/bestprice_res.aspx at $70 per person with all taxes in ( almost double of Batam ferry ).
Check in was fast because there is no queue.

Breakfast before going in. No where else to eat at Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal so the only choice is Killiney.

Waiting for gate to open. We thought we were early but there is already so many people waiting to board their ferry either to Bintan or Batam!

Tada! Here we are at Bintan after 1 hour ferry ride!

Please note that there is a express queue to get your passport stamped if you are staying at 'The Canopi'. There will be a person standing right at the enterence to ask if you are the guest of The Canopi, if yes, he/she will direct you to the express queue! So good right? Feels like a VIP for a moment!

Bus shuttle is already there to pick us ( and other guest ) up. Book the shuttle bus togather when I book the room from their website, http://thecanopi.com/.

Here we are at The Canopi! It's only 5min drive from the ferry terminal.

Check in was fast as well but we are too early as check in time is 3pm, so our room ( or should I say tent? ) are not ready yet.

They pass us all the necessary things, wrist band for entering the activity room, wrist band with chip ( orange ) for us to charge everything to the room if we want and lastly the most important thing, WIFI password because they will WhatsApp me when the room is ready.

And yes they are so advance that they use WhatsApp. There is no phone in the room so we can just WhatsApp the front desk!

Checking out the activity they have at the counter. Nothing attract us so we didn't book any.

Then we decided to walk around to see where is the activity place but we walked quite a long distance under the hot sun and we ended up giving up and walk back to the lobby! Haha!

Anyway time for lunch, so walk over to their restaurant which is just beside the lobby. Booked our BBQ for tonight as well. Ordered the Set B which is for 4 person at 1200000rp ( SG$129 ). Actually it's not cheap but the normal meal from the resturant cost about the same.
Lunch menu start only at 11.30am so we sat down in the resturant for 40mins until 11.30am sharp, and finally they allow us to order our lunch.

Oh ya by the way, these are already the slightly cheaper food on the menu. Now you know why eating at the resturant might not be cheaper compare to the BBQ.

We requested a buggy to bring us to the activity area! And it's a right choice because it is really very far! Walking in the evening maybe it's fine but if it's in the afternoon, you will melt half way there!

They need to check this whenever we go into the activity area so we always need this to be on our wrist. It's waterproof by the way so no worries about wearing into the pool or bath!

Book our spa massage for tomorrow at Nibbana Spa which is located at the activity area. You must be thinking why don't we book for today but tomorrow instead right? Actually if we book 24hr in advance, we are entitle to a 10% off! Haha! We will do massage at another spa place for today. Oh ya! You need to pay a 100000rp ( SG$10.60 ) deposit too.

Went to the mini mart to see if we can grab some drinks and snacks for tonight.

Nothing much here so head back to the lobby by the buggy again.

Time check : 1.30pm, finally our rooms is ready!

Inside is better then I expected though.

One double size bed.

1 sofa bed ( they came to make it into a bed after that ) and 1 extra bed.

Next, time to get into the pool ( or a.k.a crystal lagoon ) and to have some sun kissing moment!

Simin was trying the cable ski at the crystal lagoon! The cable ski is 315000rp ( SG$33.50 ) per hour for weekdays and 375000rp ( SG$39.90 ) for weekends.

We were at the opposite shore to see her play but it's too far already so the instructor paddle us over to have a closer look and to psycho us to play too. Haha!

The instructor was skiing by himself while Simin wanna take a rest.

Simin continues her cable ski session! I bet she will be having sore hand and leg after this but not to worry, we are going massage after this!

The instructor was so free ( no other people wants to play ) that they start to do stunt by bringing Simin and Teresa along while he ski!

All I hear is AHHHHHHHHHHH! Haha! ( Teresa's screaming )

The instructor can even have someone on his shoulder while he ski! Pro Max! And again... AHHHHHHHHHHH!

After the pool, time for massage! We went to try the canopy spa at the tent.

Booked the two person full body package at 847000rp ( SG$91 ). It says 2 hours free 1 hour and that doesn't mean you can get 3 hours massage per person, it means 3 hour divides by 2 person, so it's 1.5 hour per person.

There is only 4 massage bed in the tent and just nice for the four of us! Haha! Massage fully booked after we went in but they do have room massage which they will go to your tent for your massage ( it's cheaper too ).

I have to say this massage so worth the price! Super good! ( I denied the fact it's finish when the masseur wakes me up!)

Walked back to our tent and sun is slowly setting. Nice scenery isn't it?

Rest awhile in the tent and the staff came to help us to set up the BBQ pit.

Finally our food is here! We booked at 6.30pm because that's the earliest time for dinner and they only come on the dot at 6.30pm even though the charcoal and BBQ pit is already set up way before that. Haha.

I had a lot of feedback saying not to order their BBQ but in order to understand why everybody says it's not good, we have to try and experience ourselves.

We ordered for four person so it comes with 2 salad, fried rice, fried noodle, chicken wings, beef or mutton ( but because I don't eat beef so we change to chicken wings ), satay, cheese potato, prawn, squid, vegetable ( for BBQ ) and 1 big plate of fruits! So much that we can't finish everything!

The BBQ food turns out to be so much better then I expected to be honest! Personally thinks that the chicken wings and satay is nice but of course our BBQ-ing skills does helps a bit! Haha!

After dinner, wash up, chit chat awhile and time to zzzzzzz! Good night people!

Day 2 :

Good morning! It's breakfast time! Breakfast buffet is included in the booking.

After breakfast, back to the tent to change and ready to head to the pool again! Before heading out to the crystal lagoon, let's take some picture with the tent while we still look dry.

The sun is so strong that all our eyes couldn't open widely for photo taking!

It's been quite awhile since my last tanning! Miss the sun so much! So it's sun tanning time while we take turn to wash up and get ready to check out.

Take a picture with the electronic motor since we think renting it is too expensive!

Checked out, left our luggage with the concierge and took the buggy again to the activity area,

Motor rental place that we didn't notice yesterday.

Today looks more happening here with food stall around.

Went in to their only restaurant to have our lunch.

Saw their signboard outside that there is special promotion which their lunch set cost only 50000rp ( SG$5.30 ) nett including drinks!

So we all have rice with chicken but a different way of cooking the chicken.

Ok, sorry that I can't remember the name of this chicken because we were too busy laughing at this small and black chicken which looks like burnt chicken! Haha!

Next, of course it's time for massage! Remember we book our spa yesterday so we are entitle a 10% off for today's massage.

We all choose hot stone massage at 380000rp ( SG$40.40 ) for 2 hours.

Honestly speaking, the massage we had yesterday at the tent is much better. Even though we paid for the 2 hours massage, they actually did like 1hr 45 mins only and that includes some waiting time for them to prepare.
