Last trip of the year : Phu Quoc

So, 2013 is ending soon... Phu Quoc will be the last place to travel for this year. You must be thinking where is Phu Quoc right? Ok, here's the answer, Phu Quoc is one of the island in Vietnam, and Phu Quoc is known as the largest island in Vietnam too. My first time there and lets see what is there to explore!

Day 1 :

Initally we booked a late morning flight to HCM but Tiger Airway send us a email regarding the flight being delay to afternoon. We still need to caught a domestic flight from HCM to Phu Quoc in the afternoon so this delay might cause us not able to make it for the domestic flight.
We called up Tiger Airway to change our flight to an earlier flight becasue we need to catch another plane. Guess what? they wanted to charge us for changing flight! we need to pay for their fault? But ofcourse we insisted that it's their fault and due to this delay, we might not able to catch our next flight. Finally they allow us to change to the earlier flight without any additional charges. At times, flight delay is abit annoying!

Breakfast before our flight.

My 1st time siting at the 1st roll!

Super spacious but look! no more empty space for our luggages! Haha...  Poor luggage...

Ready to fly!

Super spacious for our leg!

Saw a lot of supporter outside the airport waiting for this lady. Guess is their model or some celeb?

Ho Chi Minh International Airport.

Due to flight change, we got planty of time before our domestic flight! Too much time that we didn't know what to do. Haha! We end up at the Confetti cafe at the airport for some food and drinks and WIFI.

Want to get some Powerful, Confident, Dynamic or Emotional Coffee? What a interesting name for the Vietnamese coffee! Anyway Vietnam always got very nice ice coffee!

Ordered some food to fill up our hungry stomach again!

Feels so rich there! Anyway bill settled and off we go to the domestic terminal.

The domestic terminal is just beside and walking distance from the international airport.

Checked in and waiting for our boarding time.

Taking Vietjet Air to Phu Quoc and tickets can be purchase through www.vietjetair.com

Finally off to Phu Quoc! ( domestic flight got slight delay too! )

1 hr flight and here we are at the Phu Quoc airport!

Airport with a wonderful view!

Here we are at our resort! Eden resort!

The lobby~

Our room view 1~

Our room view 2~

View outside our room! ( No filter pic! )

Nice garden view too!

Set is setting and we are ready for dinner!

The beach during sun set.

Yes! We are having our dinner by the beach at the resort!

The bar counter.

Appetizer is here!

Live band entertainment.

Every night there is free drinks and today is the cocktail night, which mean FREE FLOW OF COCKTAIL!!! Yes! don't doubt your eyes, its FREE FLOW!

Everybody is waiting at the bar for their cocktail to be serve. Cocktail party starts from 7pm to 9pm so grab as many drink as you can if you are a cocktail lover!

1st round...

2nd round!

8 glasses for 4 people!

This couple was so happily dancing!

Desserts time!

Eating in the resort is not cheap compare to the food you find in their town area but its much much more cheaper then in Singapore! By eating the amount of food we ate, it will cost us a bomb in Singapore! This dinner cost us only 1899550 VND which is SGD $115 (for four pax)!

Went back hotel and saw a bed time story in the room. Hm... Interesting!
Anyway, bathed and end our day 1!

Day 2:

Super nice weather to start the day! We decided to slack at the beach after our breakfast!

Booked our spa massage at the Lotus Spa at a later time cause we wanted to doing some tanning and swim in the sea first. We just had our breakfast so its not a wise choice to massage now.

The private beach of Eden Resort!

The weather is really good! ( picture not filtered! ) We heard that there is typhoon coming to Vietnam but we are so lucky there isn't any typhoon but beautiful sunny weather here!

This man is selling fresh fruits at the beach!

Wonder why is there a red flag beside me? Haha! This is how we call the resort staff for their service! Very interesting way!

Squeezing at one beach chair for their fruits!

My favorite moment! Sun + Blue Sky + Sea + Beach + Tanning + Music + Fresh fruit juice!

Playing and swimming in the sea!

Happy pose!

Time for our spa massage!

After massage what's next? Of course its time for lunch! We called a cab and ask the driver to bring us to some good place to eat.

The  driver brought us to this resturant and was told this is quite famous there.

They serve lots of local food and some very exotic food like.... Rabbit meat?! O.M.G! Eeeeeee!
Ok... Try it if your dare to but I seriously hopes nobody will want to eat those cute fluffy animal!

Many country has snakes meat but i still find it disgusting!

Ok back to eatable human food! Yummy seafood fried rice!

Fried tofu cubes. Nothing special but taste nice.

Fried chicken.

Deer meat but we can't hardly bite and swallow them! Too hard that we gave up eating it!

We asked for Vietnamice coffee but communcation break down cause they can't speak english. They ended up giving us ice black coffee so we ask them for condense milk and make our own Vietnam ice coffee!

DIY Vietnam ice coffee!

Went back to our hotel to catch the beautiful sunset! ( picture not filtered )

So yesterday was cocktail party and whats for today?
 It's wine tasting night!

Wine by the pool.

Set menu for dinner but we only ordered dessert to go with the wine cause we aregoing somewhere else for dinner.

Went to Dinh Cau night market for dinner!

Buying their famous pepper salt and fish sauce. Oh ya by the way, fish sauce are not allow to bring out of Phu Quoc unless you pack in a box ( box can be purchase at the airport but expensive ) even if you are going back to HCM. They are quite strict in this fish sauce rule ( for what reason, i do not know and the airport staff can't answer us too ). Even you are only buying one small bottle, you still need to buy the box to pack your fish sauce in and it is quite a big box even for the smallest one... can put around 30 small bottle in the smallest box  So remember better not buy fish sauce from Phu Quoc but pepper salt is ok!

Some pastry that they call it sweet cake...

Seafood for dinner! So many stalls to choose from!

SUPER BIG LOBSTER!!!

Continue to walk further down the night market to see what they have before we settle down for dinner.

Met a few cute doggie there!

Eeeeeeeeeeeewwwwww... they sell exotic wine there too!

Walk back again and went over to the mini mart which is opposite the market entrance to grab some snacks to bring back...

Ok... Dinner time!
Vietnam ice coffee got a magic power that no matter what time you will still want to have them... its night time and we are still having ice coffee!

Pork slice...

Seafood fried rice...

Fresh grill fish...

Mushroom stew...

Fried noodle...

Our BIG grill lobster!

Luanne is so happy with her big lobster!
And here ends our day 2.

Day 3 :

Saw this '10 things to do in Phu Quoc' from a map and so what are we going to do today?

We had a few place in mind so we book a car to bring us around.
1st place is the Pearl Farm. We didn't plan to go to the pearl farm cause we thought that it is quite boring but the driver ask us is it ok that they drive us there just for a while and we thought maybe that's how they earn their free petrol so we went...

Ok... this place is more interesting then we thought. Haha...

Listening to them on how to get pearl in different colour...

Then, we went in to the product showroom to see what they sell there.

Lots of jewelry there but we didn't get any...

To the next destination... This is the first time i went to a place that their road is still those mud pathway like in the olden kampong days... its a bit bumpy and rocky but after all it's still not a proper road so it's ok...

Anyway, our next destination is the Sao Beach.

This part of the Sao beach is too crowded so we ask the driver to drive us somewhere quieter...

Yup! This is the type of quiet beach we want to chill at!

Ice coffee again....

Light snacks before getting into the sea...

Vietnamese paper roll.

Lots of cute doggie there and they seems to like us a lot! They stay with us at our table till we left the place.

Getting into the sea!

We can walk in the sea till quite far from the shore and manage to do a jump shot as the water is quite shallow.

Star fish!
Please be careful while walking there cause i step onto something sharps (  like some sea urchin's spines that was left there ).

Back to the shore for our lunch!

Chicken stew.

Calamari and fries.

Fish and chips!

Look how the dogs loves us! We felt so protected by them.

Group photo before leaving the place.

Nice scenery that we pass by in the car.

3rd destination :  The stream.

Walking in the nature feels good!

Finally we reach the waterfall! There is a higher waterfall but we are happy enough with this small one! Haha! Only Yokie and I manage to climb up to this small but yet beautiful waterfall and we are ready to jump in!

Its a nice experience swimming in the nature pool!

Is this what we call 'drinking the spring water' ? Haha!

Lastly, we ask the driver to drop us at a super market so that we can buy some local snacks and most importantly Vietnam coffee!

Went back to our resort to put our things and took a cab (our day tour driver is only for 8 hours) out for dinner.

Walk along the town area, pass by a few restaurant and decided to have our dinner at this restaurant call 'Berezka'. Its own by a Russian.

We have been eating fried rice every day!

Spring roll.

Grill Prawn. Eat with their pepper salt with lime and it taste so nice!

Grill Squid.

Honey Chicken. Yummy!

Banana Pancake. They serve very nice food but maybe not dessert.

Mango Pancake.

While having our dinner, the restaurant staff starts to have their own gathering and start BBQ-ing! Guess what they are bbq-ing?

Its crocodile meat!!! The staff there are very friendly and offer us some of their crocodile meat as they can see how shock our face is after knowing what meat is that.
I did eat crocodile meat in Mui Ne (another part of Vietnam) before but it was fried and it doesn't look so 'real'! Haha! But it taste good!

First time trying crocodile meat for the rest of them! Haha! Look at Luanne's face... but she agree that it taste good!

They offer as a small glass of their wine too. (totally not wanting to know what is the wine made of... knowing that this is quite a exotic place)

Group photo with friendly staffs!

This lady in blue is a Vietnamese-Chinese and she was so happy to know that we could speak Chinese and she starts to chat with us in mandarin . Very nice lady!

Day 4 :

Last day at the beach. Going back today... Sad that our holiday is ending soon...

Last swim in the pool.

Nice sun for my last tanning!

Checked out. Bye Eden Resort ~

Went to Aroma spa which is just next to Eden Resort for our last massage!

Heading back to HCM city and then back to Singapore! Bye Phu Quoc~

Sun is setting when we reach HCM.

Dinner before heading back to Singapore.

Holiday ends... and flight delay... so our face look like this!

Flight delay so we went to get some drinks.
Finally Luanne get to drink her coconut after trying everywhere is Phu Quoc.

Night view of HCM city.
Bye HCM~
