Malacca 2016 : 2 Day 1 Night

Day 1 :

It's a brand new year so I shall have a short getaway to somewhere nearby to kick start my 2016 travel blog!

I'm going to malacca with my parents and some relative to pray, eat and shop.

Pass by the sea between Singapore and Johor Bahru and saw this beautiful sky which looks like a bird!

Anyway... Breakfast time!

Went to a temple to pray for quite a while but I didn't take picture of the temple.

And it's lunch time! We stop by a very empty eatery which only sells Wonton Mee, Yong Tau Fu, Malay food and Roti Prata. I had Roti Prata, thinking that this food will never go wrong but I'm wrong! Haha! The most tasteless Prata I ever had.

Anyway, time to head to Malacca!

Finally reached the hotel, 906 riverside hotel!

The river view in front of our hotel!

The lobby is a mixture of modern and some traditions of peranakan.

Our family room with two bed room...

A balcony with the river view...

A living room...

And our toilet!

It's already 4pm after we settle down and ready to go again!

We wanted to have chendol at this restaurant but they only open from 11.30am to 2.45pm and 6pm to 9.30pm and so we went shopping first.

After shopping at the shopping mall we walk back to the restaurant.

It is still not yet to 6pm and there is people waiting outside already.

Finally it's 6! We wanted to have chendol and they say they don't sell chendol only during weekend. We told them we will eat very fast without taking their table for too long but they insist not to sell us so we stand up and left without eating cause we have already plan to go other place for our dinner.

Before we head to our dinner place, we stop by at jonker street to grab something before they close. But will go back again after dinner again later.

Many stalls already starts their business selling local food and it starts to get crowded.

Got myself some egglets before reaching the dinner place.

Look at this cute little pineapple! And it's really sweet!

We planned to have seafood dinner at Portuguese settlement and here we are!

Nice sunset at the Portuguese settlement!

But seriously not advisable to eat here as the stalls here are very aggressive towards us! Look at how many people surrounding at 1 person! We ended up asking our driver to call his friend to check which  stalls is better. It just feel like Newton circle but maybe 10 times more aggressive!

So... End up we choose stall number 1...

My advice for ordering seafood is to ask for each individual price for those food which is charge by rates and weight. MUST ask before ordering! This type of place normally will anyhow charge people if people never ask clearly!!

Conclusion of this no. 1 stall... Although it's one of the most packed stalls but honestly speaking the food is not really that fantastic. Not sure about the food in other store but I think it's not worth to go all the way there for seafood, Newton circle sells better seafood. The black pepper crab is just cooked and pour pepper all over, it's not the type of black pepper crab that we know!

A group of 13 and all of us thinks that this will be our last time coming here.

After dinner, back to hotel to put our things and walk over to jonker street for more shopping and eating!

Getting even crowded in the evening...

Look at those tricycle! Super bling and colourful!

Fresh watermelon juice! Drink from the watermelon itself... I'm not a watermelon lover so I didn't get to try therefore not very sure if it is nice drinking in this way...

Weekend performance at the jonker walk stage.

This buah long long juice is so nice!

It's freshly make on the spot!

How can we not have chendol whenever we comes to Malacca right?

So here's our first chendol of the trip and I am lucky enough to get the last 3rd bowl!

Back to hotel, bath and enjoying my 'me time' while my parents and auntie went to bed!

Oh Ya this is the buah long long drink that I buy earlier on and look at what they use to contain the drinks! And it cost only 6RM ( SGD$2 ) including this container. I'm gonna drink along my way back to Singapore tomorrow!

Anyway... Good night people! Time to sleep!

Day 2 :

Morning greeting by this kitten that one of the staff save from street! She was so happily running and jumping around the lobby.

Walk over to jonker street to do more shopping. My mum wanted to get some batik clothes there as some of the stores only open during the day time.

We wanted to eat some dim sum here as breakfast but it's full. We waited for quite awhile and decided to give up waiting.

Pass by this unique house but not sure what is this for.

Look at the contrast between the white building and the blue sky! Beautiful isn't it?

We went to the flea market along the jonker walk.

Love those vintage camera!

Artist working in progress!

Vintage black disc player and the sound sounds so good!

Went in here to get some batik table cloth that my mum wanted.

If you were to walk in deeper from the store, there is a cafe call 'The Daily Fix'! A very old school style cafe with very nice coffee smell everywhere! I shall go there to have a cup of coffee during my next visit there!

Nice interior decoration too!

Tada! This is the shop that my mum wanted to come to get her batik clothes!
They sells a lot of different style of batik cloths for both men and women. My parents bought their Chinese New Year clothes here!

Nice interior with a open air roof!

While waiting.... Selfie time!

My parents wanted to have some nyonya food since we are in Malacca, so I went online to do some research and apparently Nancy kitchen is one of the top 5 best nyonya food restaurant in Malacca! And of cause we went there to have a try.

It's full house again but lucky they allow us to share table with other people as we only have 3 person, and the table only have 2 person. The rest of my relative went message so it's easier for 3 person to have a table if not 13 person will have a hard time finding place to eat.

Chendol again! Yummy! Our feedback is it taste much better then the one that we had yesterday night although that is already consider as quite nice.

7 dish for 3 person cost around 80RM ( SGD$ 26.70 ) which is very resonable! After a nice yummy lunch, we walk back to the hotel to meet the rest and off we go! Time to go back home!

Their operation hours and address.

How to go there.

The bus stops at the petrol station while on the way back to Singapore, the weather is way too hot that we need ice cream to cool us down! Anyway, I didn't see this pomegranate magnum in Singapore before and it's yummy!

Stop by this place to buy some yummy otah! They always buy here whenever they comes to Malaysia.

Address of the otah place.

Our driver had already book a restaurant near Malaysia custom for us. And so it's dinner time!

Didn't expect to be a big restaurant like this!

This is not a dessert but fried popcorn chicken with longan. My favorite dish among all!

7 course meal and it is only 45RM ( SGD$15 ) per person! Reasonable price for a restaurant like this. Food is not very fantastic but not bad too.

The address for the restaurant. Didn't manage to get any name card so I can only take the road sign! Haha!

Bright full moon accompany us back to Singapore!

Anyway end of my first trip of 2016 and stay tune for more trips coming soon!
