Follow me to Seoul in this Spring season! ( Day 1 )

Korea Day 1

Some information of the weather in Seoul so that you will know when is the best time to go and also what to wear or bring.

December to march - Winter and January will be the coldest and winter Korea is the most dry season, so please prepare lots of moisturizer to prevent skin from cracking and drink lots of water.
April to may - Spring, it's the cherry blossom season during end of April and tru may.
June to August - Summer, it's hot and humid during the season. Monsoon rain will starts end of June till mid July and Typhoon in August. Remember to bring your umbrella along.
September to November - Autumn is cooler and dryer but pleasantly warm and sunny.

Ok now, lets follow me to Korea for 8 days 7 night!
Bought the promo ticket at $705 nett from Singapore Airline. Very good promo! Do check out their promo often, who knows you might be able to grab some good deal!
Took the early flight and will reach Korea in the early afternoon.

7hrs flight can't go without food! So try not to take budget flight.

What I see once we arrive at Incheon airport!
P/s: Hp without 4G basically you will not have any network in Korea. So I got no service for 8 days. But no worries, Korea has free wifi almost everywhere you go!

Get your korea railroad airport express train ticket to Seoul station at the counter. The lady at the counter told us that there is a promotion for the express ticket. So instead of 13800won, you can get it for 8000won for now!

Beside the express train you can choose the option below too:
Airport limousine bus -
• Stop at Myeong dong
• be prepare for serious traffic congestion
• 70 mins
• standard limousine bus - 7000 to 10000 won
• deluxe bus - 14000 to 15000 won
Taxi -
• to Myeong dong
• 60 mins
• 90000 won + expressway toll 7700

Ice skating at the airport? Anyway if you see this, that means you are walking the right way to the express train station.

After the ice skating area, you will see this long blue tunnel. Follow the tunnel and you will be able to reach the train station.

Off we go to Seoul!

Drinks vender machine inside the station.
P/s: food and drinks are allow in the train.

Whole cabin of our own!

About an hour ride so time for some picture and music!

The view outside!

Finally we reach Seoul station! Bbbbbig station! Now gonna find our way to the subway. ( walk straight till the end of the station, exit the station and take the escalator down. Grab your T money card, which is their EZ link card, at the convinent store.)

There is many different picture for their T money card and this is one of them. I'm still keeping it for my next visit to Korea!

Snacks selling the the train station too.

Every station has aloooooot of exits. Read the map carefully and you will be able to exit the station at the correct exit.

Reading map is important for free and easy trip! Finding our way to hotel.
P/s: Korea train station doesn't have a lot of escalator so you have to carry your luggage up and down the stairs.
We got a bit lost when we are out of the station. we approach a young lady for direction but she doesn't seems to know but she is kind enough to help us call the hotel for the direction. After she put down the phone, she told us that she will bring us go because we might get lost again. By right she is meeting her friend and she told her friend to walk around 1st she will be back after she bring us to the hotel. That friend of her agreed and also pass us a pack of red bean pancake and ask us to eat. I guess that pack of pancake supposing is to share with her friend but she gave us instead.
Feels so good when we met nice people!
I will recommend to take bus instead of express train. Lesser walking and lesser climbing of stairs. Lesson learnt! Next trip we will try the bus instead.

After watching many many korea drama, i wanted to try out their tradition house so much. So we decided to stayed at their traditional guest house a.k.a Hanok for the 1st night.

This is Yoo's Family Guest House Yeorumjip.
Took a cab down and the taxi driver had a hard time finding due to the address I gave him is in English. Lucky we met a nice driver, he called up the guest house in charge and the lady told him the way. The in charge was a nice lady too, she was waiting outside the main road waiting for us and to lead the cab in.

P/s: the in charge can speak English so no worries on communication. Some of the Hanok guest house do provide some traditional activities during your stay at their Hanok. You can get to wear their traditional costume, Hanbok while doing some DIY activities like ceramic, tea session, paper art,
make your own kimchi and rice wine. Do check with the Hanok when you book or during your stay.

Visit www.agoda.com or yoosfamily.com for booking.

This is the 2nd outlet of the Yoo's guest house, the main one is walking distant away from this too. It is small but if feels like my own house. Small and cute.

Lets tour around "my" Hanok.

Their house yard. You can gather with your group of friends here at night to chit chat and watch the stars! But of course it's abit cold at night. (5-6degree)

The kitchen.

Breakfast provided. Help yourself with the Raman, egg, coffee and tea ( all unlimited ) in the kitchen.

View of our room from the outside. Our room is the only room with private toilet inside the room. Please read carefully when you are checking out the guest house. Most of the guest house are shared toilet. This is also one of the reason why I choose Yoo's family guest house.
After settled at the guesthouse, we head off to Myeong Dong for our Nanta Show!

Famous busy Myeong Dong.

At the Nanta Theater.

Grab some food at the street before the show starts. Sooooooooo many people.

Nice food but the lady boss abit fierce. She don't allow us to take picture of her stall but I secretly took one. This stall is just not far from the Nanta theater, can be found easily because it is always surrounded by a lot of people.

Bought the Nanta tickets online and at a discounted rate ( 20% off ).
Visit nanta.i-pmc.co.kr/ for more details.

This show is really funny! Personally recommend this!

Walk around Myeong Dong after the show before heading to Dongdeamun.

Nice lemonade! Prefect drink for a cold night! Haha!

Saw a lot of people queuing up for something so we join them! ( so Singaporean right? ) Haha!

So this is what we are queuing for. Freshly bake!

Super nice lady boss who only wants me to take picture of her food and don't want me to take picture of her. We order the smallest pack but she insist of giving us the medium pack. Do support them when you are at Myeong Dong train station.

This is seriously yummy! Eat while its hot!

Here we are at Dongdaemun. The famous late night wholesales shopping area!

Korean love banana milk. From what I know, it is very difficult and expensive to get banana in Korea, therefore whenever kids wants to eat banana, their parents will buy them banana milk and tell them it's the same as banana.
Actually this banana milk got no contain of banana, only flavoring and come coloring if I'm not wrong. Personally I don't like it. It taste weird. Haha.

April is the strawberry season! Their strawberry is really huge and tasty! Price is so much cheaper compared to Singapore.

P/s: April is also their strawberry festival. Do visit their strawberry farm if you have time but its abit out of the way so check out with your hotel to see whether they can help you with the transport.

Time for some late night shopping for the 1st night!

Time check: 3am
Starving after shopping only at one of the mall.

Saw this Chinese restaurant right beside and we decided to try their jajangmyeon! ( again watch too much kdrama. Haha!)
To my surprise its yummy! Looks normal but yummy!

Back to our guest house. Oh ya! Just for your info, the floor is heated up every 30mins so you will not catch a cold even your are sleeping on the floor. 5-6 degree outside but you still feel warm in the room.  It's a great experience.

P/s: they do provide room with normal bed but I will recommend to sleep on the floor, something which you don't do back at home ( unless you fell down your bed ).

End of day one.
