Korea Trip Day 1 & 2 : Common Ground --> Hermes Cafe --> LineCafe --> MyeongDong --> Hyehwa University --> Sinchon --> Dongdeamun

Day 1 :

It's time to "visit" Changi airport again! Where are we going this time round?

Yes! I'm going to Korea again and yes I'm still not sick of this place yet! But this time round is a tough decision due to the sudden MERS outbreak in South Korea which happen just 1 week plus before our flight. Just happen that my cousin was already there when the outbreak happen, he told me that it is still safe to travel there. So after some discussion with my friends, we decided to go ahead with our initial plans. The MERS is causing 6 death just two days before our departure date and this ended up with two of my friend canceling their trip. So this trip will be just Pearlie and I exploring.

Had some light dinner before our midnight flight. This is my first time flying off from T3 and didn't know that there is such a nice food court.

Off we go!

It is also my first time taking Asiana Air and while reading the on board magazine, I happen to read that we can get discount at a few place by showing our boarding pass including the express airport railway!

Time for the on board meal! And we are having the Korean local food, Bibimbap!

There is also instruction on how to make your own bibimbap!

Here we reach Incheon airport at 6am local time and straight we went to get our ( discounted ) KTX tickets.

We just need about 45mins to reach Seoul station, where our Airbnb apartment is located at.

Because of this MERS outbreak, we try to wear mask everywhere we go.

And we ended up looking like some Kpop Stars trying to avoid from the paparazzi! Haha! Ok... I'm dreaming....

Discount voucher found on the train and of course I took one!

Our apartment is just across the street ( the tall building on the right ) from the seoul station. A very convenient location!

The check in time is actually 2pm but our Airbnb host, Hani is very nice to let us check in early. She had such a cute apartment! Initially this apartment is for 4 person but since we only left 2, we can each have a big bed of our own, one takes the one on top, one takes the one at the bottom.

The view outside our room!

After resting for awhile, we head off to Anguk station to collect my Wifi device that I booked online in advance. By right we can choose to collect at the airport or delivery to our hotel/apartment, but the delivery cost US$5 per trip so we thought that since we have a lot of time and we shall go and collect ourselves at their office.
Rental of wifi device is US$3.99 per day, with 700MB data to use each day. Any data above 700MB is chargeable at 2 cent per MB.
Hani actually provide us a wifi device too but since we already book in advance and we could use the one we rent to Busan too so we didn't cancel our booking.
To rent the device please visit : www.wifi-korea.com

The office is not open yet so we went to grab some simple breakfast first.

Finally it's open! Collection and everything is fast and easy, and they can speak good English too.

The wifi device includes the device, charger and a poch.

You can download the apps call the EcoGate to keep track on your daily data usage so that you will not over use it as there is chargers if you use over the 700MB.

So this apps show how many percentage  I have used. For this example will be 68.82% used by 5pm.

The shows my usage everyday and I didn't over use any of the data! Yeah!
A useful way to prevent from over using is to off the device whenever you are not using. Anyway this device helps a lot when it comes to finding way using the Google map! I will rent this device in future for my Korea trip too!

After collecting the wifi device, we went to Konkuk station. Pearlie saw online that there is a unique shopping mall that is made up of lots of container and we decided to go and have a look ourselves.

Here we are at this new and unique shopping mall, Common Ground.

It is indeed a very unique place with quite a lot of shops selling both good quality ladies and men's wear. Price wise are not those high end range but it is not cheap either.

Haha! Saw this cute quote in the ladies toilet.

Some other interesting quote found in the mall!

There is cafe to chill at the roof top too! Look at how sunny and warm it is, I guess nobody would chill outside the cafe unless it's in the evening.

Last picture with the common ground bear before leaving the place.

Address : 17-1 Jayang-dong, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, Korea
How to go : Konkuk University station exit 6 and walk straight for about 3 mins.

After some shopping at the common ground, we headed off to Apgujeong for lunch.

We are actually looking for the Hermes cafe but we saw a Harmas instead! Haha!

Yes! Finally we are here after walking like almost 20mins walk! Is place is seriously very difficult to find! We used the google map and finally found it!

Cafe is located at the basement of the boutique. We didn't want to buy anything or should I say we do not have the money to buy anything? Haha! So we went straight to the cafe without entering the boutique. There is a side door that can lead us to the cafe.

Even the lift door is with their logo! Feel so atas ( high class )!

Beautiful outdoor eating area but it's way to warm to eat outside so we choose to eat inside the cafe.

Cause it's quite late already so we decided to share one main course and have more dessert instead. The seafood pasta is not bad with quite generous in ingredients. Look at the big scallop!

Ordered two dessert, the tiramisu and cheese cake to try but frankly speaking, it's not as fantastic as we thought. We ended up didn't manage to finish both dessert. My conclusion for the Hermes cafe is unless you are here for shopping ( like some of the rich Korean tai tai in the cafe ), if not it's not worth finding your way here. Moreover it's a super long walk from the train station! ( take cab if you really wanna go )

Address : 630-26 Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, Korea
Tel : +82230153208
How to go : Apgujeong station exit 3

Next we walk to the Sinsa subway station and start shopping around the area. Initially we wanted to flap a cab to drive us to the subway station but nobody wants to pick us up, so we ended up walking again! Ok so we are back to Sinsa Dong! More affordable shopping here!
After some shopping, we visited the Line Cafe to have some coffee break.

Welcomed by a huge bear when we step into the cafe! I guess it's a must to take picture with him right?

Welfie with the rabbit!

A very huge and cute cafe to spend some times in there! Took some picture around first but not a fan of Line character, so we didn't get anything.

After all the photo taking, we proceed to the cafe area to chill and have a cup of coffee. I love the cold brew black coffee! And this coffee bring me to the ice americano world and got addicted to it!

Look at the cute macaroons!

Address : 535-15 Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, Korea
Tel : +827077283244
Operation Hours : 12pm to 9pm
How to go : Sinsa Station exit 8

After coffee, continue to shop! Pass by 3 concept eyes and of course we need to go in to grab some cosmetic! They got very good crayon eye shadow and concealer.

Sun is setting! Took a cab down to our favorite place, Myeongdong! As usual, shopping time!

So after some shopping, time for some BBQ dinner!

We ordered the pork set at 24000won each person.

The BBQ looks soooooooo good!

The BBQ we often eat uses lettuce to wrap the meat, but this restaurant that I saw on a guidebook, uses rice cake to wrap the meat! It is soooooooo yummy!!! No regrets eating here!

Address : 25-36 Myeong-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul, Korea
How to go : MyeongDong station exit 6, walk straight at turn to your left at the first T junction and walk straight till almost end of the street.

After a wonderful dinner, most of the shop is already close, so we head back home to rest cause it's been a long day for us too.
Good night!

Day 2 :

Found a new place to explore this time round.

Saw online about this place call the hyehwa where the hyehwa university is located at. Since it's a university area so this place might have some good and cheap things to grab.

First of all, lunch time! Pass by this Hong Kong Banjum 0410 Plus and decided to give it a try. Not sure why is it call Hong Kong when they are selling authentic Korea food. Haha! Anyway just eat and not care about the name.

Quite a big restaurant filled with many students. I even heard Chinese speaking student who were studying there.

They sell very local food and I think we made a good choice cause there is food that I wanted to try!

Mandu, which is their fried dumpling. Been to Korea so many times and I don't remember myself eating this!

Jjamppong, the spicy seafood noodle! Yummy! The spicyness is not only the colour but it is really spicy although i know there is many more place that sells jampom that is much much more spicier.

How can I miss my favorite jajangmyeon when we are in Korea?

Went shopping around the street but unlike the other university street, hyehwa is much quieter ( lesser crowded ) than I expected.

Pass by twosome cafe and decided to have a cup of ice americano before continuing.

One of our main purpose to this area is this ' Topping Tree ' ice cream! What so special? You will see in the next picture!

My ice cream in progress...

Ta da! My flower gelato! Not only it look pretty but the gelato itself is nice! Love my strawberry favor!

Got myself a strawberry mix with chocolate and pearlie got herself a chocolate mix with mocha.

Next to our favorite place! Ewha womans university!

As I mention earlier on, university area do sell more affordable things and so..... It's shopping time!!

Been here many times but never go into the collage before and we decided to tour a bit in this famous collage! Haha! Act like a students!

We saw people taking picture here so I assume they are here tour around cause if I'm the students here I will not even bother to take a picture with my school unless I'm going to graduate, right? Haha!

And the shopping continues...

Chill at the mango six cafe before we head back home to unload our heavy loot.

After we reach home, it started to rain! We waited for the rain to be smaller and head out to hunt for our dinner.

Fried chicken for dinner! This is also one of the famous fried chicken in Seoul, at dongdaemun.

We ordered the 'ban ban' fried chicken set which include the half ( ban ) spicy, half ( ban ) non spicy, potato wedges and salad.

Since we are already at dongdaemun of course we must come here for more shopping! The things here might not be as cheap as those at the university street but there is still some nice and cheap stuff. Doota sells more local designer things but price are much higher then the other building.

It's the line character again!

Shopping shopping shopping!

Even doggy are here to shop! This is something we will never see in Singapore! Haiz...

Enough of shopping and time to head back home to have a good rest! *yawn*

My loot for cosmetic VS .....

.......... VS the free sample I got from the store! Maybe due to the Mers, they are losing a lot of business from the tourist and therefore they are more generous with their free sample.

My loot for clothes! Finish taking picture of my loot, time to sleep!
Good night!
