Taiwan Day 5 and 6 : A day trip to Wan Li, YehLiu Geopark, Shi Fen, Shilin night market and heading to Hsinchu

Day 5 :

Kick start the day with some yummy breakfast that is selling right below our hotel and off we go to the outskirt of Taipei city.

I personal love this rice ball with lots of ingredient inside! There is many other flavor of rice ball to choose from too. Price from NT$25 - NT$40 ( = SG$1 - $1.70 )

Mee sua from other store but still Ah Chung mee sua tastes better.

We booked a one day car to bring us to the places we wanted to go. I told the driver which are the places that we wanted to go and he plan the route for us.
Please visit www.taxi777.com.tw or call +886-913-863-905 ( Mr Chiu / Qiu ) for booking and prices. You can call them one day before and they are able to get a driver and car to meet you needs. We suppose to do this one day outskirt tour two days ago but cause of the kids not able to wake up so I call Mr Chiu up on the morning of that day itself to cancel and he is not angry or complain about us doing a last min cancelling but instead he told me to let him know again which other day we are going so he can arrange another car to pick us up. Although I normally don't use car service when I am in Taiwan but in future, if I need any, I will still look for Mr Chiu. Thumbs up for the service!

Ok, so our first stop for the day is Wan Li!

Yes! We are here to do the paragliding! I didn't get to fly in Korea this year so after knowing that i can also fly in Taiwan, I make this activity as one of my 'must do' in Taiwan!
Look! Someone is already flying while we are on our way up the mountain!

Did some research online and seems like Ye Ma a.k.a Mustang paragliding club is one of the most famous paragliding club in Wan Li. We didn't do any reservation but we are still able to fly.

Paragliding fees are at NT$1200 ( = SG$51 ) and renting of their GoPro will be at NT$400 ( = SG$17 ) which you will get the 8gb memory card for free.

The flying site.

Someone is ready to fly!

Very different from the paragliding in Korea. In Wan Li, it's very crowded. There is many people who are here to fly, there is a lot of instructor here and they fly continuously. As for Korea, There is only a few freelance pilots and only my friend and I went there, wanting to fly.
We were told that we won't be able to fly for long due to the wind situation, there isn't wind on the day and the most we can fly is around 5 mins. Kind of disappointed when I hear that but still very excited to fly for that 5 mins.
I think I really need to choose a better timing to do the paragliding in future, not able to fly in Korea due to over strong wind but can only fly for 5 mins in Taiwan due to no wind. :(

By the way, not very sure this paragliding club is still in operation or not because we saw on news that they almost had some accident during the evening, on the same day that we went. Apparently, they flown towards the road, almost causing car accident, instead of flying towards the beach.
Visit www.0932926289.com for more detail or making reservation.

Anyway, I am all dress up and ready to fly!

Group pictures before we fly!

Actually there is one person who have acrophobia and guess who? ( hint: Not the two girls ) Haha!

Gotten my "flight ticket" and waiting for my turn now!

Qianyi is ready to fly like a bird!

After flying, time for some seafood lunch since we are near to the sea! Our driver introduce this San Ye live seafood restaurant. We are so afraid that this is those typical seafood restaurant that will cheat tourist money but when we step in, almost all table are local which make us feel better.
We didn't ask about the price and started to order lots of seafood. Haha! We only realise that we didn't ask about the price after we finish our order and while waiting for the food and so we start to pray hard that it will not cost us a bomb! Luckily the food turns our nice and fresh and most importantly, price are very reasonable! The amount of seafood we ate and the amount we paid, definitely you wouldn't be able to find it in Singapore!

Didn't plan to go to the Yehliu Geopark but since it is just a few walk from the seafood restaurant, we decided to go in to have a look.

Entrance fee : NT$80 (SG$3.40) for adult
NT$40 (SG$1.70) for children age 6 - 12
and free for children under the age of 6.
Operation hours : Daily from 7.30am to 5pm
Visit http://www.ylgeopark.org.tw/ENG/info/OpenInfo_en.aspx for more details.

Candle rock.

This is the famous 'Queen Head' rock.

Many people came to look at the queen head rock as it's neck is becoming smaller and smaller each day so people believe that one day the queen head will falls off.

We gave up the rock viewing after we saw the most famous queen head cause we are too tired to walk and at the same time don't understand the rock arts at all. Haha!

Head off to Shifen for the wishing lantern after Yehliu Geopark.

This is my third time here but with 3 different group of people.

So crowded as usual!

Mini wishing lantern for sale to hang in your house or car. I had mine during my first visit here and it is still hanging in my house.

Single colour wishing lantern at NT$150 (= SG$6.40) each and NT$200 (= SG$8.50) for multi colour wishing lantern.

Everything on the railway must be clear within seconds when train is approaching!

Gotten our lantern and starts to write our wishes on it.

I realise that there is a lot of Korean during this visit to Taiwan! The staff there who is selling lantern did learn a bit of Korean to teach the Koreans what to do.

Although it's my third visit here but it's my first time putting the lantern in the evening time and the lantern look even more beautiful when the sky is dark.

Old school drink.

Fried ice cream!

Hot on the outside and cold on the inside! Nice!

Went to the temple next to Raohe night market to pray before heading to Shilin night market. We should go to the temple on the day that we went to Raohe night market but at that time we didn't know this is a famous temple. Our driver went in to pray as well!

Last stop for the day... Shilin night market (again)! Sooooo crowded!

Went straight to buy the rice cracker. It's selling around $5 per pack in Singapore but selling NT$200 for 4 pack which is about $2 per pack. All of us bought and I loot back 6 pack for my family and colleagues..

Very nice of the lady there cause she gave us one whole piece of the rice cracker that freshly pop out as sample piece! Visit Master Mi to grab some yummy rice crackers!

And we shamelessly starts to eat non stop again! Haha!

If you could find this stall you definitely have to try their cha siew bun! Super yummy! The bun is so soft that I ate another one all by myself after finding sharing one with them is not enough! NT$80 (=SG$0.80) for one only!

OMG!  I miss this bun so much while posting the picture!

The vegetable bun is not really my type. Bun is still soft but I don't like the vegetable ingredient.

Still trying to hunt for yummy mee sua but we ended up thinking Ah Chung mee sua is still the best!

Fried sotong ball with real sotong bites in it and fish ball. Yummy yummy!!

One is never enough!

Had fried ice cream at Shifen and now lets try fried milk!

We are quite full already but when i pass by this stall I can't help but bought another bun! I am zero resistant to buns! Oh nooooo!

Cute bun!

Cute things don't taste good? You are wrong! This cute bun is tasty!

Back to hotel, wash up and party starts at our favorite corner again! Having cup noodle while watching our paragliding video. I said that we have been shamelessly eating non stop during this trip and it is proven! Why are we eating again?!

How can we say no to these yummy cup noodle? Right?!

Day 6 :

Last day in Taipei! Thinking of going to Ding Tai Feng to have our last lunch so we went to Dong Men to visit the restaurant and also grab my local snacks from the 'Red Sakura'.

Look at the queue!!! Ok, the waiting time is at least 1 hr so we decided to give up the idea to have our lunch there cause some of them need to go to the airport in a few hours time.

Not able to have our lunch at Ding Tai Feng, we thought of grabbing our local snacks at Red Sakura and go back to our hotel area to have our lunch.

My loot for the Red Sakura's Hello Kitty local snacks. There is many local snacks with hello kitty packaging selling at the airport but so far i still think Red Sakura's product taste better. ( personal preference! )

How to go: Dong Men Station, Exit 5, Walk straight once you come out of the exit. You will pass by Red Sakura and at Red Sakura, you will be able to see Ding Tai Feng ahead.

Before leaving Red Sakura, we asked the staff for any recommendation for lunch near by and they recommend us this Tung Men dumpling restaurant which is just down the ally.

Dumpling is not bad! But the rest of the food there ain't very fantastic.

How to go : Dongmen Station, Exit 4 or if you are walking from 'Red Sakura', walk back towards exit 5, walk straight and turn left, walk straight again for about 5 mins and turn right and you be able to see it.

Time to leave Taipei! Half of us is heading to Hsinchu and half is heading to the airport and back home! Last group picture at the hotel lobby.

Before heading to Hsinchu, we went to Guang Nan wholesale which is just across the street from our hotel. It's a good place to stock up your beauty products and other things. I bought a SD card for my digital camera and it cost much cheaper than Singapore and also some beauty products.

Suddenly it starts to pours heavily while on our way to Hsinchu. Initially we wanted to take the HSR to Hsinchu but it's raining too heavily that we can't even walk to the train station with our luggage so the hotel help to call a taxi to drive us from Taipei to Hsinchu. About 1 hr to 1.5 hr car ride from Taipei to Hsinchu. Staying at friend house in Hsinchu so got no hotel to introduce to everybody! Haha!

Look at the wind in Hsinchu! Haha!

Dinner time at Shinbashi Yakiniku!

While waiting for our food, photo taking time!

The food here are SUPERB! The meat and seafood was great!
We went to the outlet at Zhubei and call up for reservation before heading there. If you want to try at the restaurant, please do call up for reservation cause it's fully book when we arrive there. Below are the address and telephone for different outlet.

Basically, in Hsinchu, there is no place to go after 10pm. We thought we could chill at some cafe but sadly everywhere is close! So we ended up going home early and have party at home!
